Lobby System

I’ve played a lot of Halo and I have to say, the Lobby System in Halo 5 is absolutely ridiculous. I feel so Isolated while waiting for matchmaking to find players. All I see is a bunch of icon representing players and hear voices. A persons gamertag is their identity not their H5 icon.

The lobby in prior Halo games displayed a list of players (gamertags) and a symbol to represent if they had a headset and I could see who was talking. This allow me to mute someone if they were annoying or simply exit if I see someone I played with previously that I didn’t like, or say, “Hey, I remember playing with you yesterday - we kicked some butt.”

H5 lobby is anti-Xbox, anti-community. Did 343i get some PS developers to design the lobby system? This must be fixed.

I know what you mean, at times I didn’t even know it was searching because it was hard to tell.
All I see is icons and random voices, bit weird they designed it that way.

Yeah I think they were high and drunk when they made the lobby system. My 5 year old could design a better lobby… Cmon 343 your supposed to bring new stuff to the table, not take away basic necessities.

Didn’t fully read your post but yes you are right it is a bad lobby system. I think that all the FPS games need to go back to Halo/GoW/COD style lobby rooms with map veto/vote the menu system in this game is stupid confusing even though I have gotten used to it after 60 hours it is still bad.

OP described it perfectly. I feel isolated from my fireteam and players that i match. It’s definitely anti-community.

Halo 5 seems like an unfinished product. I’m not ready to give up on 343i just yet. I just hope they get this fixed.

I agree but this issue might need a whole lobby overhaul, i doubt they’ll want to put workforce (and therefore money) on this aspect

It’s the worst lobby system halo has ever had… It’s disappointing…

Its such a simple thing to get right and well… 343 have really screwed it up

This… This is the reason why the lobby is so. Don’t want to judge because you said after ‘‘Hey… we kicked some butt’’. The lobby is the worst I must admit, but you can mute people once in-game or even quit there if you want, which in my opinion is really dumb to do, but hey… that’s my opinion. I just feel that we should at least be able to see their SR (not CSR) and gamertag/mute icon

Another thing I greatly miss… the Party Up System! Finish a fun game with a great team and then keep the momentum going. Made some great friends this way.

I think it would be nice if the actual spartans appeared on either side of the screen, along with their emblem and GT, a bit like how you get to see your team briefly at the begining of the match.

I think this would make it more social.

I don’t think it is so bad because I can first of all usually figure out who is talking relatively fast and if not
me: hey person whos talking who are you
Person: oh I’m randomgamertag
me: ok thanks wanna join my fireteam
person: sure
me: god that was so easy it took a whole two seconds to figure out who was talking

Yep, i pref something more like Halo TMCC

I don’t thing there was anything wrong with the old lobby system. If its not broke, don’t fix it.

It seems like you should be able to hear your fireteam while waiting in the lobby before a match is found. This seems to be the reason that everyone is using party chats instead of the in game chat, which is especially annoying if you’re searching alone and you are placed on a team of 3 who are in party chat.

This…hands down.

now my memory isn’t as good as it use to be but if i remember correctly, the halo 5 BETA MP lobby allowed us to do everything that has been mention above minus the party up system. can anybody confirm or deny this?

I don’t know why it was changed. You can’t look at gamertags, see who is talking, or anything. Its really weird

Whatever they do, CSR for all players should not be visible at all until the end of the match. This helps prevent DNFs before the game has even started (frankly something that is still a problem that could be made worse).

I for one like the lobby system, I dont care about seeing gamertags and rank while I wait for the match to start

actually when I think of it, in gears of war ultimate edition (among other games) in the lobby it would show peoples ranks and everyone that was below those ranks would quit the lobby and try to find lesser numbers of ranks,

i think they hide ranks for this very reason,

showing ranks just delays the game from starting
