Lobby chat

First time using game chat with a friend that has -Yoink!- internet so he can’t be in party chat and play and I can’t hear him until we find a game. Is i just me or is this how it always been?

I’ve only used game-chat yesterday (I’m almost always in a party chat if I’m using my mic) and i wasn’t sure if it was a thing, but I noticed that I didn’t hear anyone, even if they were on my team already, until the game itself was already found and attempting to load. But no idea if that’s how it’s always been or not. I didn’t get Halo 5 until a couple years after it’s release.

That’s lame

Halo 5 does have some form of lobby chat, but you can never tell who has a mic or who is talking specifically.

Yes, that’s the way it’s always been.

You press “X” and go to recent, it will show who is talking only after you’ve finished the match though.

When I have my headset on to play ranked team arena, the only thing I hear is the canned chatter. I don’t really hear any talking in the lobbies either.

Nobody ever talks, so I don’t bother either as I’m assuming they can’t hear me.
