There is an immense amount of concern for Halo 4. Sure it is a spectacular looking game and favourites have been brought back like the BR but turning Halo 4 into Call Of Duty will effect hundreds of thousands of players, even millions. It is up to you community to prove to 343 Industries just what kind of Halo you want built. So I added all the variables in this scenario just for the sake of it.
So I here people mentioning that the word “perk” was a misconception? Read this then.
> You only prove my poInt. You jump to conclusions about stuff. Terminology is very important. We lack the information to make a judgement. You guys seem to have learnt nothing from the 343i recruitment video. Do you guys even remember these are industry best working on a game they love so much in such cadence with each other?
> What you guys have “seen so far” is mostly speculation and play of words. These people have a big tendency of jumping to conclusions themselves, just read the articles, you’ll see that clearly. And then you guys do it again. Think first, shoot later. You’ll spam less.
"None the less 343 Industries knows the impact it will cause to the fans if it is indeed in the game. We can jump to conclusion on this matter all we like because the game is mere months away from being released, virtually half a year and they don’t stall final implementations at the last second and decide to change their mind. They should of futher elaborated on the game before even mentioning something along these lines even if they were called “perks” or not it is a representation of progressive benefits that would clearly uneven the game if not properly implemented to suit the perfect Halo gameplay.
So without a doubt we know the results of this poll, and if 343 decides to continue with either of these features there will be significant problems. It’s always going to be better to bring up things like this as fast as possible with great concern to further help refine the experience that we will see in the final stages of development."
> Both O’Connor and creative director Josh Holmes acknowledged that the change could prove controversial amongst Halo’s community. “I expect a variety of different reactions,” Holmes told Eurogamer, “One of the great things about Halo is we have the ability to support a variety of different play styles and play lists, create experiences that cater to different player types and community desires.”
343i has probably made one of the worst first impressions I’ve seen. I mean the ViDoc was good and all, but if you look at some of the interviews and media reports it paints a very, very scary picture that makes me doubt the future of Halo.
Did they really think if they said that there was going to be perks and armour abilities that the community was going to respond positively? I mean if it’s no where near as bad as it sounds, why not say as such? Now news will spread that Halo 4 is the new Call of Duty, whether that’s true or not will be irrelevant.
Yes it does sound pretty bad when you hear it the first time but it might turn out good. And as Frankie said, there will be a lot of customization in playlists. I’m pretty sure they try to please as many as they can so we will possibly see very different playlists ( for example mlg would likely use no perks no sprint and so on)

> LOL go play COD, thats how… 343 is trash as far as I’m concerned. No design abilities. Just monkey see monkey do. lol fools
and you know this how? have u played the game?
Until they show them off we have no idea how they work and how they affect the gameplay yet.

Agreed. They should have paid some attention to their own forums last year. They can’t expect to just design out of their hat and expect people to accept anything they produce. We are Halo fans for a reason. THE BALANCE OF THE GAMEPLAY!!! NOT progressive unlocks that reward you for simply investing time not skill. LOL 343=FAIL

I’ve played Reach. I’ve read what people saw of the in-game demo. There are loadouts and progressive unlocks for them. Rewarding time spent vs skill is poor design.

Perks can be good for Halo in some ways, like extra ammo but loadouts are just plain terrible in my opinion; that which is without a doubt a mimic of Call Of Duty and Battlefield 3.

I think this pretty much confirms that you don’t have to play with perks, sprint, loadouts etc. Anyway, I’m skeptical about perks as well. I’ll just have to see it before I call my verdict. As long as classic Halo playlists are there, I’m already happy.
