Loadout weapon variants?

I’ve been playing Halo 5 for months on end, but still don’t really get what all these versions of the BR, DMR, SMG etc are supposed to do? Is there a definitive guide anywhere that explains it properly?

For example - there’s the BR that increases accuracy(laser targeter), one that reduces recoil(stabilization jets) and one that increases range(long barrel). So am I to guess that the laser targeter makes the bullet spread a bit less?

But what about the long barrel? Surely with increased accuracy the BR would be better at range anyway? So what does long barrel do? Maybe it increases the damage at a distance?

Stuff like scopes, kinetic bolts etc are obvious, just wondered about the above ones.

  • Laser pointer shows your spartan where he’s pointing (not you but if you’ve played modern shooters you’d see what it shines where the bullets are gonna hit). What it increases isbthe hipfire accuracy. - The stabilization jets reduce the recoil for the weapon making it more steady. - Long barrel allows your bullets to reach farther. In modern weapons the longer the barrel the more the bullet can travel.

There are very specific functions for each attachment. The functional changes are as follows:

  • Silencer - Removes radar icon from firing - Kinetic Rounds - Increases damage and knockback against vehicles - Extended Magazine - Greater clip size and spare ammo capacity - Laser Sight - Increases bullet magnetism - Stabilization Jets - Reduces muzzle climb - Long Barrel - Increases red-reticle range - Laser Targeter - Marks targets when aimed at them - Energy Bayonet - Increases melee lunge distance and damage - Knight Blade - Increases melee damage and knockback against vehicles, and extends lunge distance - Sound Dampener - ( Silencer + Long Barrel )That’s all, if I’m not mistaken.

Oh, and don’t forget the different weapon sights.

  • Projection - Maginifies the view by 2X when zoomed, no scope, lowers weapon spread - Recon - Magnifies the view by 2X when scoped, allows tactical awareness - Hybrid - Magnifies the view by 2X when scoped, allows tactical awareness, Holosight - Classic - Magnifies the view when 2X when scoped, no outside awareness - Longshot - Magnifies the view by 4X (I believe), no outside awareness - Sentinel - Magnifies the view by 4 - 8X (changeable), no outside awareness, glare at certain anglesAnd I’m already hear so thought I might talk about my preferred sights.
    Projection
This is the only sight I use on SMGs and ARs. It doesn’t kick up like others, and I find it lowers the spread of the bullets.
    Recon
Rarely ever use it, in all honesty.
    Hybrid
I prefer this one on my mid to short range precision weapons. The Holoscope is nice and since it projects out of the rifle, when you are holding it at the hip you can see more above the rifle than with any other sight. Also it makes a cool sound.
    Classic
    I don’t use it.
    Longshot
I use this on my long range precision weapons. I like how the sight is squared, and it zooms in a good amount.
    Sentinel
The variable zoom optics are cool, but the sight is small and has a lot of glare at certain directions.

Hope this helps you out understand the sights better! I’m currently SR97 and these are my opinions.

That’s everything, then? Every attachment and sight is listed with its functionalities in one thread?

Cool beans.

As many told you, it can variate because of effectiveness: Silencers to hide you in enemy radars, longshots and steadiness to accurate your aim, Promethean barrels to make our guns fire Promethean ammo, explosive shots for more damage and the bayonet to kill in one hit with melee.

Thanks for the replies and info, but where did you guys find all this out?

A few YouTube videos, and a few tests in Forge to verify.

By the way, I find the laser sight on the BR to be a decent imitation of the H2 BR, if you don’t have it. Though, the long barrel or sound dampener are personal favorites of mine in WZ, given their function.

Are these both mixed into the Tactical Magnum?

I have not tested it, though its description and appearance attributes it with a silencer, laser sight, and AP rounds, which increase vehicle damage.

Kinetic bolts - Increase damage to vehicles.

Silencer - Hides your fire on the motion tracker

Long barrel - Claims to increase range but as far as I’m aware it doesn’t do a damn thing (made a map with fusion coils to test it but I make no promises)

Stabilisation Jets - Reduces recoil, best for automatics and sentinel scope BR. DMR doesn’t really need it.

Energy Bayonet - Increased melee damage, can result in instant kill. Melee is a little slower.

Knight blade - Similar to bayonet, not as powerful, has increased melee to vehicles more so than players.

Extended mag - speaks for itself

Laser Sight - Slows the bloom rate for automatic weapons, kinda pointless for BR and DMR

Threat marker - Temporarily marks an enemy

Sound Dampener - Suppressor and Long barrel combined, kinda pointless again, looks nice tho

Projection Sight - I think it’s a 1.5x zoom not sure

Recon sight - 2x zoom

Longshot - 3x

Sentinel - 4x with variable zoom into 6x

SMG CQC scope - 1.2x me thinks

Hybrid - Not sure, on the carbine it’s a little over 2x so can only assume the same

Classic scope - 2x

COG Scope - not sure, think it’s 2x, bars show ammo ( horizontal bottom), enemy shields (Vertical blue on left) and enemy health (Vertical red on left) Also Highlights enemies while aiming at them.

Magnum - 1.2x I believe

You’ve got some errors on your attachment functions list. Read my first post. Everything written there was tested thoroughly after being sourced from others’ findings.

Ah thank you, sorry xD
