There are multiple problems that are with the grenades in Halo 4. Not the grenades themselves for the most part, it’s just how you spawn with them. Player now have the ability to customize their loadouts to their liking. This is awesome, but now that leads to a few problems, and one overlooked problems that I see, are the grenades, and how many you can spawn with. I’ll bullet them simply.
The Problem:
Players spawn with 2 frags or plasmas. Pulse grenades, you get 1. Very unfair to pulse grenade users.
2 plasma grenades are way too over powered in big team battle. To destroy any vehicle, it takes one plasma pistol over charge, & placed plasma grenades. Very unbalanced & very unfair for vehicles drivers, seeing that every single spartan on the Big Team Battle field is armed with anti-vehicle explosives. Players rarely enjoy a vehicle for longer then 1 minute. Vehicles in Halo have always had their benefits, but now with players spawning with 2 plasma grenades, vehicles are just easy double kills, and sometimes triple kills.
The Solution:
The solution I want to present would balance Halo 4’s multiplayer game play very much.
Allow players to only be able to spawn with 1 grenade per person, no matter what grenade.
This would give the the give the “grenadier” and “resupply” packages a real purpose. 1 grenade per person would be much more fair to pulse grenade users, and would balance out and treat every player more fair with grenades. This would also balance out Big Team Battle gameplay so much more. It would give the vehicle drivers some breathing space, and allow vehicles to flourish like they did on Halo once again. I honestly don’t take warthogs any more like i used to, because i can barely enjoy them anymore due to everyone just plasma pistol charging me, and then just tossing all their plasma grenades at me.

I agree 100% with this solution. Another great solution would be to remove plasma grenades altogether but put them in ordinance more often then make them stickier, then move the plasma grenade commendation from loadout to ordinance mastery. As for the Frag and Pulse, make them both one grenade only in loadouts.
> All of this is all well and good, and a blamming great fix but 343 won’t fix it.

You don’t know that, please don’t talk negatively about 343i. This thread is for loadout grenade problems. But thanks for the compliment!

I honestly think that removing plasma grenades would cause more complaining then actually fix anything. It would be interesting to see the outcome of the removal of plasma grenades though. Do anyone else think anything about this?
You know what they do well besides sticking to vehicles or people… ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
If a plasma hits the ground or does not stick to a person or vehicle they are the worst weapons in halo 4.
They have terrible detonation consistnacy and have the worst damage and radius of all grenades.
Plasmas were one of my favorite weapons in halo.
Now they are used for killing vehicles or going on suicidal sticky run attacks(I dont, but I see it all the time)
Absolutetly my least favorite weapon in the game.
People might complain about getting stuck by kamakazie players but for every time they charge and stick me I kill them twice, and their K/D always shows it. ]
Plasma greandes need to be removed fom loadouts or at least remove 1 of them. Pulse probably needs 2. Even after getting good with them they arnt very effective. Decent for objecive.

In CQC 2 pulses is an automatic kill if you know what your doing.
> They have terrible detonation consistnacy and have the worst damage and…
Except a plasma grenade on the ground can still kill with only one grenade, where the frag cannot (the pulse can, but you have to catch a really bad player to get them to stay in it and die)
Pulse nade is almost a free kill every time. Throw pulse nade and two BR burst kills almost every time.
Big advantage is most people use the other two types of nade. Meaning if you have resupply… At many times you have a total of 5 nades… This alone means having just one pulse nade at start isn’t a huge disadvantage at all.

It doesnt matter cause no one ever dies that way from them. You litterally have to camp on top a plasma to die from it. And outside that range the damage is laughable
I’ve always viewed plasmas as a power weapon on par with the shotgun or needler. But i feel like starting with just one grenade across the board is a lil to un halo to me. I would like to keep the unhalo rating where it is or improve it. So pass.

I find it extremely hard to kill anybody with pulse grenades. I seen people walk RIGHT through my pulse grenades. They should be more like instant kill weapons or something. I find them way too weak, and too complicated to use if you actually try with them.
1 of each across the board is good, if they balance them out. the pulse grenade, just one by itself, is hardly used by players because of it’s lack of immediate damage. plasma’s are circumstantial, and frags are used to initiate a fight or kill enemies without their shields hiding behind cover. with that comparison, it’s easy to see why most people prefer to use frags, and then you have people go Plasma pistol/grenade on maps with vehicles.
all that said, I feel like the best course of action in Halo 5 would be, buff the alien grenades, and remove them from starting loadout options, making them power weapons. as for halo 4, the best solution to the current issue would be to buff the plasma grenade blast radius and reduce it to 1, and buff the pulse grenades damage so that it more easily removes enemy shields.
all that aside, the pulse grenade was likely intended to be used in team fights, and possibly by more then one individual at a time. a blanket of pulse grenades will likely decimate any team too close together while backed into a corner. that said, halo 4 lacks communication features other then mic support to allow such a well coordinated effort in most games.
Pulse grenades should have a gravity effect that pulls or makes it hard for people to run away. They are described to create a singularity that callapses i think, or something similar. It is forerunner technology and they were masters at gravity manipulation so it would make sense.Plasma grenades should be reduced to 1 and have a improved damage radius and shorter fuse time.Frags are for the most part fine, but people tend to spam them allot, though that has been a halo thing since the start.
One thing is for certain though plasma in BTB are bad news for vehicle play and pulse grenades need their feature enhanced, it is forerunner grenade technology for gods sake.

idk y this wasn’t done to begin with
“Let’s allow players to spawn with two stickies or one pulse. That’ll balance out, just fine.”
You know, to be honest I can’t believe there are more people so far that disagree with my point of view. I thought more people would agree that it would benefit the game if more people started with 1 grenade.

About the the pulse grenades, I thought the same thing. I really wish they would be a lot more powerful.
