Loadout advice

I am currently using:
DMR
Plasma pistol
Frags
Dexterity
Shielding
Jet pack

I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips. I like playing big team hence the plasma pistol, and frags because I can’t stick very well as I mostly play splitscreen. I will always be using jetpack, as I like the mobility.

What do you guys think? What would you recommend?

Dump Frags, and use plasma. Set up another loadout with Frag and explosives. They will do better.

In objective games, use pulse grenades.

I haven’t really tried pulse yet, I’ll give them a go!

Depending on the playlist you will want to try to find something else to use besides the DMR. BR or Carbine for smaller or more frenetic maps and for everything else I say give the Light Rifle a go.

Shielding also isn’t worth it IMO (firepower to pick up a surpressor or extra grenades can be much more useful.) Play around with that as well.

You have to figure out what works for you/the people you play with.

For example I always run with Regen field and AA efficancy because my friends can’t get enough of regen field (I love it too). In CTF I’m usually the defender so I have Auto sentry and fire power ready to go to pick enemies off from afar and an automatic for mid/close range combat.

I always say use the right tool for the right job.

If i would just add something…when ever i use either Firepower or Shielding, i think they would do best on smaller maps, like Adrift or Solace. BTB maps, no need to have either one, b/c the maps are obviously big and you are not easily killed.

My big team set-up is

LR, BR or DMR
Plasma grenades (stick to vehicles)
Plasma pistol (EMP vehicles)
Ammo (Helps with my primary and gives me more ammo from ordnance weapons)
Requisition (which is from the tracker spec and it lets me re-roll my ordnance if i don’t like what i got the first time)
My AA changes depending on the map or how i feel

I would agree with the person who suggested maybe swapping out grenades, but the main thing I suggest if to swap out shielding - there are too few times where that will help.

Lol no. The DMR is the best precision weapon in just about any given scenario.

Your k/d: 1.52, TOD DMR
Mine: 1.97, TOD BR

There is something to be said for diversity. The DMR is a powerful weapon but it can also unwieldy with a slow ROF. In tight scenarios it will let you down more frequently than with other weapons.

As they say it’s not the size that counts but how you use it. :stuck_out_tongue:

On BTB maps, the DMR, dominates all precision weapons. Its strange that the Carbine, is not as accurate on BTB maps, b/c it was best for me in Halo 3, but in this game, it sucks. On mid-sized maps, BR;LR;Carbine is better, IMO.

1). Use default loadouts.
2). Pretend you’re playing a High-Res version of Halo 3.
3). Die to Boltshot.
4). Ragequit.
5). ???
6). Profit
7). Repeat until you’re banned for quitting games.

My standard BTB Loadout is:

DMR
Plasma Pistol
Plasma Grenades
AA Efficiency
Regeneration shield
Ammo

The combination of Efficiency and Regen-shield is very beneficial. You can pop in and out of cover placing shots, whilst any shots you receive are quickly healed. It takes some time to get used to the disorientating effect of the bubble, but after some time it is no longer an issue. It also helps your fellow Spartans! In that way it is great for long range battle such as on Longbow, Ragnorock and Exile. This load out is also very-very effective against vehicles, and CQC with the plasma pistol is also very effective. The Ammo perk also helps alot, and gives you extra ammo for any power weapons you pick up too!!!

My second load out is for a more offensive approach:

DMR
Storm Rifle
Frag Grenades
Fire Power
Promethean Vision
Explosives

I use this when my team are pushing up on the enemy; such as in the caves on Ragnorock and the enemies base. The closed in areas on exile, the top structure on Longbow etc etc. It is really effect as the combination of the Storm Rifle and a DMR enables me to push or withdraw depending on the the situation. The Frags with the Explosive perk and combined with Promethean vision are great for clearing out enemy concentrated positions - Multikills - Yay! (However i have to refrain from taking on vehicles head on and often find myself running from a Ghost or Hog)

My third Load is designed for the acquisition of Vehicles and power weapons:

DMR
Plasma Pistol
Plasma Grenade
Mobility
Regen-Shield
Ordinance Priority

Mobility enables you to out run team mates (or the enemy) in the race for vehicles, most obviously at the beginning of a match, but also around the respawn time. The DMR and R-S allows me to take out enemies occupying territory in a weapon/vehicle respawn area and then mobility enables me to traverse open areas of the map to acquire the treasures!
Also the Ordinance Priority perk delivers lovely Power Weapons right to your doorstep much quicker! (I may swap the mobility for the ability to re choose ordinance when i get that specialisation or the Vehicle specialisation…im not sure yet)

Fourth is used for very close combat (i very rarely use this TBH):

AR
Bolt Shot
Frag Grenade
Active Cammo
AA efficiency
Explosives

This one i do not use, as i only really play BTB it is not very effective. However if there is an enemy being a general unsporting annoyance such as base camping with the BS, active cammo sniper camping, power weapon corner warming etc etc, i will use this Loadout to slowly sneak up on them and take them out. I dont care if it takes me until the end of the game, i will get them!

The other Loadouts are just what i experiment with, i am currently (and quite unsuccessfully) trying to replace my DMR use with the BR or Carbine so i am just toying around with various combinations to see how i can make use of them. If a game is going very well, or is becoming one sided i will use the carbine and BMR to practice…oh and just started trying to use the Pulse nades…are they any good? I can not seem to use them effectively.

try the auto sentry. Use it smart like. it gets assists all day, and i have already gotten 50 kills with it alone. Not to mention it acts like an alarm system if people sneak up on u

I have been meaning to try out the auto sentry, i (to my knowledge)have not yet been killed by one, so i am rather doubtful about their usefulness, but i will now try it out for sure now!

Use it with AA efficiency it will make it even better.

Mobility
Dexterity

Switch dexterity out for something else. It’s not as useful as it seems.

It makes all the difference when its crunch time.

Thanks for the advice guys,

I will definitely change my grenades to stickies.

I find dexterity very helpful

But I think I will change up shielding and maybe give the auto turret a go.
