Living dead update

Ok so let me just start off by saying that living dead has always been the most fun playlist to me. But I feel like the fun epic survival in it has gone down from halo 3 to the recent reach update. I just remember waiting for every weekend praying that the double exp was going to be living dead. The maps were just so amazing like that haunted manor map and all the other custom game maps that had alot of hard work put into them. I hear alot of people on the forums complaining about how the zombies in infection dont get enough kills and that they should be more powerful but that is not the point of infection. Infection has always been a campers game and is meant for the best strategical campers to kill the zombies and get rewarded for surviving with 20+ kills. I mean how would it be if everyone in infection ended up with 5 kills because its so hard to kill a zombie?

So:
halo 3=very fun and easy to kill zombies
halo reach=fewer kills and fewer good camping spots

The point of this is the update. So I was very excited, more excited than i was in a while for halo to hear that there was going to be a living dead update. When i heard that there was going to be new custom maps i expected more like halo 3 maps. But heres what we got:

Swordbase: Both of the best camping areas are closed off which are the two vents. A bunch of random fusion coils and barriers have been thrown around. It was almost impossible to get any kills without any good spots to get kills from.

Power House:The spot next to the blown up bridge is closed off and the bathroom is closed off. But there is now a destroyable bridge to the top of the roof of the gravity hammer building.

Zealot:So lets just say you cant go into space so there is nowhere to run if you get overwhelmed

Countdown:the only difference is that there are wood pallets blocking the doors.

Boardwalk:This is the most horrible thing 343 could of done to the map in my opinion. They wont let you go to the one place at the end of the bridge where you spawn. you cant really go under the bridge anymore and some other entrances have been cut off and some dumpsters were thrown around to make it easier for the zombies to get around.

the cage:looks like my little brother tried to make his own version of the cage wicth would not be very good.

I am very sad about halo living dead after this update. and all i can say is that when 343 says that there is an update with new maps dont expect much. I mean, i could of made these maps in at least an hour. So all in all, they took away the best spots to kill zombies and didnt add any place else

infection is a gametype where the survivors have to work together to defend from the zombies.

also, the maps where made by the community and not 343i, i did parasitic, the new zealot variant.

In other words, 343! I can’t spawn kill zombies anymore from my vent spot on Sword Base, PLEASE FIX IT, ITS TOO HARD TO MOVE AROUND.

Seriously, this update made Living Dead a lot fairer for both Humans and the Infected.

Adapt to it or vote for the default variants.

Nope, not in the slightest, you notice how when you are a Zombie and dying constantly you feel like sh…?

Well that’s how EVERYONE else felt and the update changes that.

Can you present proof to justify the bolded claims? Note also the appeal to tradition in between them; just because something has always been one way doesn’t mean that that’s the way it should be.

The two Living Deads – pre-update LD and post-update LD – are like two soccer games. In the first soccer game, Red team is allowed to kick Blue Team’s players in the crotch limitlessly. In the second, crotch-kicks are banned for everyone.

In the first game, Red-1 is having a lot of fun, but that enjoyment is outweighed by the indescribable burning agony felt by Blue-1. In the second game, neither team is having as much fun as Red-1, but both Red-2 and Blue-2 are having fun, and the total fun between them is higher than that felt by Red-1 alone. In other words, more people are having more total fun in the fair game than in the imbalanced game.

Fairness guarantees more total fun. The same principle applies not just to Infection, but to every other one-sided gametype in Halo – One Flag, Invasion, what have you.

whatever, the thing is you dont go into infection hoping your a zombie. you make the most out of what you can when your a human and get your kills and when your a zombie just get over it and hope your a survivor next round. I mean if you hate getting killed as a zombie you can just go afk. It is a million times more frustratig getting killed as a human

Which is why they made it fair to balance it out.

Presenting a different opinion is not trolling.

Like I said in the 2 other threads, the problem with Reach zombies is primarily how much it sucks to be a zombie. Being a human is absolutely not as fun as it was in H3, and being a zombie is exponentially worse than it was in H3. Also, Camping spots multiply the suck of being a zombie because the Pistol is already quite OP. IMO there needs to be good camping spots that are hard to get to, and anyone that is easy to get to shouldn’t be a perfect spot (ie Sword Base ledge). Any of the spots on H3 Guardian that I would get 40 kills in a game with, I spent a decent amount of time practicing in customs.

Also, sword block needs to be removed, zombie speed needs to be buffed (300% speed, 50% gravity I’m thinking? IDK though I haven’t tested it thoroughly). And in my opinion the most important change being max players 16 with 25% zombie starts. Now if there are 4 players camping on sword base ledge, you still have 8 other people do go after.

Also, players per console needs to be reduced to 2, and non-default maps need to be added, or at least more maps with major modifications to accomodate LD. Next add more game types, like creeping death, speed demons, full shield zombies, and brains but with ARs.

IMO this would greatly increase the enjoyability. And

yeah i know guys, but i dont think it would be fun if the zombies had infinite shields and 500% speed. I just like playing living dead cause im good at it and get 30 kill almost every game but you cant do that any more with the update. like i said you dont go into living dead hoping to be a zombie. if you dont want to be a zombie dont play living dead just suffer like the rest of us as zombies

Give it a little time and learn the maps, I have seen and started to find some of the sweet spots and with teamwork/awareness, areas are able to be secured for those 30 kill games.

I just pulled a 23 kill game on Deadwalk using the bottom level, the spots are there, you are going to have to refind them.

Then your argument is incredibly stupid and one sided. Give humans a better chance to play it and only the boosters/campers/peoplewhocantaimwithgunsproperly will only play it while the people who genuinely play it for fun leave for other things.

The maps have made a considerable difference on Living Dead. It’s done something good, it’s made the game fairer for the Zombies who already have it bad. I’m sure your opinion on the matter would change very much if you were the zombie every single round, this applies to everyone.

No human with a right mind is going to continuously play something that is unfair from the start. Let’s say you’re a Zombie and you can’t wait for the round to end, it finally does and you are the Zombie again. You groan but play in hopes to be a human in round three. Unfortunately, you are not.

Now times that happening by 100 times in a row. You will not want to play Living Dead at all. What you are basically saying is that because the devs have added some maps to make it fairer for zombies, you’ve suddenly decided that because it’s a smidgeon less unfair for Humans who already have it good that they should not do this and change it back.

Sir, I call you a hypocrite, and that goes for anyone else using this stupid argument.

While Zombies may win 95% of the time that doesn’t mean that they haven’t suffered a huge K/D loss due to the plain superiority of the human players. Zombies have one close range weapon. Humans have one close range weapon and one long range weapon.

That automatically is a huge advantage alone, the guns aren’t unlimited ammo but having the pistol is still an advantage.

While I’m not necessarily pointing this at you SiK SiLenT BR, there are others out there who share the same skewered argument. It’s of course respected by myself and many other people on these forums, but at the same time so easy to side with the Zombies and keep the newer maps.

I am personally glad that there is a little more fairness for Zombies now as I know how stressful it can be playing as one at times.

I pointed out that the argument of “get rid of these new maps/change it back” was total pigswill, if you want to see how, read it. I’m not here to give you a short version.

ok, mine parasitic would be the corners by the teleporter, the zombies come out facing down the hallway so they are likely to miss you, if they turn around then they still have to spot you so you can get them.

the other spot would by the 2 health packs but that requires teamwork.

thank you for telling me this. this is the kind of stuff i need to know. not how much my opinion sucks. I think that living dead was perfectly fine before the update and tons of people played it. all i wanted were for maps that allowed the same type of gameplay not ones that completely change it.

I dont mind that some of the major camping spots were removed. But there have been some NON camping spots removed. Some legitimate spots that rely on skill were removed. Thats what ticks me off. I wont play on reflection or boardwalk because they arent fun anymore. And judging that in my last 2 games on each, half the game quit, Im not alone in my opinion

Not to mention the god awful color effects. Please take them off

I really wish they had given us new maps instead of hurting the ones that were there

Yeah some of the spots the took away were ridiculous like those areas on boardwalk and reflection

WHY DONT WE JUST TAKE THE NEW FORGE SYSTEM AND USE IT AND MAKE AWESOME MAPS!

There is evidence that these maps arent fun because half the game quits!
