When I heard that there was going to be a launch trailer for Halo 4 released around this time, I got excited because I thought I would finally get to see that highly anticipated 2-3 minuet GAMEPLAY trailer. One just like every other game where you see bits and pieces from various parts of the story.
What did we get, this time? More live action.
I’m not a big fan of FUD, and I’ve never really cared for the ODST and Reach live action Launch Trailers.
Was anyone else disappointed when we didn’t get a true launch trailer for H4?

I agreed with everything you said… except the ODST part – the “we are ODST” short was brilliantly tone setting for what it meant to be one.
Though in general I definitely that live action stuff tends to be less emotive for me for a game’s impending release than seeing actual content that I’ll be playing in the game (as long as it isn’t too spoiler etc).
I thought that trailer was Epic, I want Master Chief’s armor from that, or one of those Promethean Knights suits. Maybe you don’t think that a live action trailer is as good as a gameplay trailer, but you have to realize and appreciate how much time, money, and effort goes into making one little clip like that. They had to pay to have all of those suits made, they had to hire actors for all of this, they had to create the area and scenario shown, and they had to make anything animated look fantastic.
I think am glad they they worked hard on something like this instead of just recording some gameplay and making a trailer out of it in an hour.
I don’t get your point OP. We’re getting suitable quantities of all forms of advertisements. That includes gameplay videos, coverage in magazines, coverage on websites, CGI trailers, Live Action trailers, and even entire web-series. So what’s the big deal?
I really liked the new trailer. Really nicely done. My only criticism is that the Scattershot sound effects sounds lame, sounded like someone opening a can of coke, and that it should have sounded more powerful.
Great touch to see John being outfitted with what appears to be Mk V armor as well.
Also interesting to see that John saw original Bungie designed Pelicans with original UNSC logs flying over the beach and not the ugly monstrosity that is the H4 Pelican.
