We’ve seen the brand new trailer here. and apparently Master Chief dies. However, I don’t believe this trailer is canon, like the other live action trailers. In Scanned, Chief is captured by the Didact. The Chief/Locke trailers are also not canon, won’t say why though. Do you agree and think this trailer isn’t canon, as it’s just a marketing technique to get people interested “MASTER CHIEF DIES

I think ONI is fabricating it so people don’t go looking for him. They want him dead.
Well, most live-action trailers for previous Halo’s have not been canon…
Like Halo 3’s Believe and Halo 4’s Scanned trailers.
Either way, ONI is fabricating the story.

Something to consider… the date she mentions is October 27th 2560. That’s roughly two years after Halo 5 begins. Could the game run that long (in-universe) or is the trailer just 100% -Yoink-?

It could be a fabrication of the truth, we all that the Office of Naval Intelligence loves to bend the truth to stimulate support.
I’d say that because Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 is acting out of character, for the first time ever, (going AWOL, pursuing hallucinations of Cortana, resurrecting Forerunner Gaurdians etc,) the theoretical “Master Chief” that the public know of from the Human-Covenant War is dead… he may officially be the enemy, and thus ONI would not want a public panic or say our greatest hero has turned on us…

The trailers are never cannon… I doubt they’ll start now…
In this case though, I think there will be some sort of MC death fabrication going on in the game… Will it involve death by rubble? I doubt it…

Pai this trailer with the one where Locke is approaching a downed Chief “Let us remember this, the one who saved us. And not THIS, the one that doomed us all” or something like that. ONI wants John out of the way.

It could also allude to something happening in two years concerning MC (Halo 6 release date 2017). In any case, most likely not canon, but we dont know how long Halo 5 lasts. Maybe it stretches over 2 years

You do realize Starry Night is canon? As with quite a few other ones like Halo 3’s Landfall.
