Well, for the first time, I can admit that this game is truly unplayable. At times there was some ridiculous OP strategies (Jerome, Kinsano) and a constant state of imbalance (Banished>UNSC), however this is the most unplayable the game has been. Serina and Forge are so beyond OP, there is literally nothing that can be done from the rest of the UNSC. At least against Jerome and kinsano, there were still ways to win if you weren’t them. At this point, I’ve beaten my fair share of both Serina and Forge, but largely because my opponents were making terrible decisions.
On top of all of that, the nerfs to Cutter is probably the dumbest move that can be done. After they balance Serina and Forge, you will have essentially solidified the fact that UNSC is garbage. I’ve been a Cutter main since Season 1, and he was never the best, but conversely never the worst. At this point, I can’t see why he should be picked over anyone, let alone the current OP leaders. I am going to assume that there will be a hot fix by the end of the day, because I can’t imagine the developers allowing this game to continue in this broken state.
Never the less, this is problematic because last season was probably the MOST balanced it has been, despite the advantages to Atriox, Arbiter, and Shipmaster, the game was still competitive. Very disappointing.

I actually thought the Cutter changes were what needed to happen, but maybe the nerve was more extreme than it should have been. The other changes they made to infantry kind of made this a double nerf for him.
The changes that could have happened (a slight nerf to ODST damage, raid was fine), were really rendered obsolete after the buffs to infantry, specifically hell bringers. For example, any leader that has a solid economy could focus on building hell bringers to combat Cutter for map control, but there are so many different ways to beat infantry that even that wasn’t as necessary.
ODSTs should be able to drop in and take out 1 building, at times it looked like there could be multiple. Then again, they should have their health and damage buffed to make them worth while.
It’s amazing, no one considered Cutter a Top Leader, many didn’t even think he was Top 5, yet so many who don’t play as him wanted nerfs. Essentially, if the leader in question isn’t your main, he should be nerfed, where as yours should be buffed (right, atriox?). Lots of hypocrisy on this forum
I feel you. He wasn’t even considered the best UNSC leader and he still got nerfed lol. People cried that he was OP early game, but even still he could get stomped by every banished leader there.
100% agree bud. I would also add Atriox’s hero unit needs a nerf as well. In the right hands, he is just as dangerous as Forge.
Myself as well as my 2v2, and 3v3 team are retiring from HW2 until 343 fixes these issues. Really a shame, such a fun game too.
It’s so difficult to hold those intial rushes from serina and forge, if you hold them then youre most likely behind in bases and tech. Forgehog comes so early and without t2 you really dont have much to stop him, then theres serina with crazy control making it so you you cant take a good engagement or retreat. I had one guy drop ice barrier all over my base really early on to freeze all my production so i wasnl getting little to no income, then just rolled my base with the icecream truck. Trying times…

Ice Barrier needs to have a radius like the Scout Mine where it can’t be placed by buildings.

But Cutter neeed that nerf too. His ability to choose engagements with his insane infantry speeds was, simply put, a good bit overpowered. Cutter is still more than viable, he’s an all around solid leader. You just don’t have a crazy mobility advantage anymore.
As for the Banished V UNSC matchup, it feels very well balanced outside of a few tweaks in this version.

Cutter’s nerf should have been minimal at best. It was really only an advantage for T1, a slight advantage at T2, then at T3 it wasn’t really beneficial because it was all vehicles and air at that point anyway (both of which stomps infantry).
Cutter’s best asset was easily countered… Again, he wasn’t a top 5 leader last season, why nerf him at all?
He is no longer viable, he can’t get map control anymore. That was the only thing he had going for him, as his drops aren’t as strong as others and doesn’t have any engagement changing leader powers until CAS

I think it would be better to just have them not affect buildings, they’re already clunky enough to place due to buildings and fog of war. It’d be pretty frustrating.
