Hey everyone I just wanted to share with you all that I have submitted my own remix into the contest. The direction I took when creating the remix was to reach out to how traditional Halo would sound. I pictured a casual intro that leads up to battle sounds and ends with a unique casual sound. I tried going DnB-ish, or im not sure what i did. I just wanted it, to sound cool and epic!

Admittedly Iâm only here cause Iâve been trying to find out more about the remix comp, but nowâs a good a time as any to join up anyway
What was your thought process: Well honestly I didnât find many of the âstemsâ usable, they changed key a lot and only work together in the way Neil intended. That being said I guess I just picked a section of the tracks and tried to expand on them.
It beats me how they are going to judge this stuff, its only a few days in and thereâs already 200 or so remixes - imagine how many there are going to be at the end of the month when the comp finishes? I hope they wonât be filtering by how many soundcloud friends you have (favouries), that would suck for all the talented people out there who are new to all this.
Sorry for replying to this SO late, I have been super busy. My thought process behind my sample was to create a clip that had that classic Halo sound to it while filling in a beginning, middle and end of a game. That is why it starts off slow and calm, then picks up like you are in battle and then the chorus comes in to give more of that story impact sound, and lastly everything settles down with the calm orchestra at the end.
If I had more time I could have made it much better, but you only get like 1:20 for the free version.
I remixed Awakening, but tried to chronicle Cortanaâs descent into rampancy by giving it a more melancholy feel and a build up into complete digital anarchy. Let me know if you like it!
