[The Gameplay]
-No player to player on team collision is detrimental to the experience and will cause balance problems later. Plus its more fun for custom games if it is on!
-Battery based weapons should not recharge when I walk over the same weapon, I should have to swap them out so I dont end up deleting the weapon before someone else can pick it up. I don’t want my team mates to hate me if I accidentally back into the weapon plate.
-The shield projectile hit feedback is REALLY good but the default red coloring makes it a bit hard to distinguish the impacted damage.
-Sprinting feels useless, which I like actually. People should have more time with their guns risen to encourage team play and people paying more attention to the level layout so they can learn quick traversal through the level’s design.
-Hitmarkers make me feel like I’m cheating, they work behind cover/walls so will know that an enemy is there and to just immediately follow up with another. It doesn’t matter that I can radar/mark the enemies so they show around corners, these in general feel like a placebo for player communication. Though I don’t mind keeping the text que for people who don’t have a mic/aren’t able to really speak clearly. The accompanying highlighting is the issue.
-Enemy highlighting/marking in general feels like I’m cheating since it exposes snipers/people in more shaded parts of the map too much (The game is already well lit), feels immersive and generally like something that would lead to people just ‘aiming for the glowing thing’ rather than looking for the enemy team. Just doesn’t feel right.
-The smart scope, I generally found it useless for any weapon that wasn’t a rifle/weapon with heavier zoom. I feel like this is how it should play and it would be better if auto guns/some pistols/the shotguns and such did not use the scopes to begin. Especially since I have less map visibility due to this feature, in previous games I could use my binoculars to scope out certain spots on the map, now I have to keep a scoped weapon on me just to see the more out of the way/far away portions of the map in clarity. I’m not sure that this was the intention?
-It would be nice to have a more formalized way to distinguish friend from foe aside from the shield outline, I tend to focus on the core colors rather than the shields so I ran into a lot of issues with the player colors tripping me up.
-The BR and pulse carbine feel like they the same burst shot niche, one the pulse carbine wins in. I don’t want it to be like reach where we had weapons that got over shadowed in their own niche if possible, I understand that weapon balance is difficult though.
[The Audio]
-The spartans all sound like they just barely hit puberty and chatter way too often along with the AI. I’m not sure if this was just for testing purposes but it is really grating. These would work better in terms of ‘personalizing our spartans’ if the AI was purely visual and was just an adorable little companion on screen/in the environment. As for the spartan voices, they would work better as death rattles/on hit grunts, especially if there’s a plan in the future to let you customize your voice at all. The voices could work for fire fight, but as they exist right now really lacks personality.
-The AR sounds a lot like the auto rifle from just cause 2 pitched up, maybe its due to how memorable that game was to me but it feels very off for the gun personally. This is a more subjective gripe of mine and probably not a real issue Related audio: Just Cause 2 All Weapons - YouTube
-It feels like a lot of the map’s sound scape is filled with silence and the AI/Announcer/Player characters competing to see who can talk over eachother more. I genuinely don’t know why its like this, especially when I know its going to be hard to distinguish sounds in the game because of this (footsteps, gunfire, etc) and they’ll be competing for my ears attention along with my team mates all talking to each other as well. Please reconsider this.
[The small details]
-There doesn’t seem to be feedback when walking/crouching on the corpses
-Corpses disappear too fast after they’re killed, feels less satisfying that I don’t get to appreciate the fruits of my team’s labor.
-The gravity hammer feels nice, but it lacks feedback on your hits (A screen shake or perhaps a physical effect to you and the enemy and your surroundings when the gravity is displaced with a hit for example).
-Loading can take a while but general performance is in the smooth 60s, I hope there is a place for the 144 and above frame rates for people with high refresh monitors.
[The Store]
-I don’t have much to say here, though I hope the exchange rate for items isn’t too high or the item selection is very limited so that people with addictive personalities are not being exploited. Thank you for considering.
Thanks for the smooth tech testing!
