So, I was wondering what everyone thinks about the precision weapons in this game. I was wondering what everyone’s opinions are in general in terms of difficulty of using the 5 precision weapons rifles (and magnum) in the game.
Here are my thoughts, in order of hardest to easiest:
Getting a Perfect Kill (in general):
Carbine
Magnum
DMR
LightRifle
BR
Getting a Kill at Close Range (any number of shots)
DMR
Magnum
LR
BR
Carbine
Getting a Kill at Mid Range
Magnum
DMR
BR
LR
Carbine
Getting a Kill at Long Range (Range where scope is needed for all weapons to be effective)
Magnum
BR
Carbine
LR
DMR
Edited: Switched BR and Carbine for long range. Carbine ROF with descope --is better at long range, especially if you get the jump on someone.
So, in summary, I think the Magnum is the most difficult to use overall, and has the highest skill gap. However, my personal favorite is the LightRifle, based on it’s versatility of the two firing modes, it’s overall power (3sk or 4sk), and its high magnetism. It is a boss.
I put carbine first in getting a perfect kill, as getting a 7-shot is pretty tough due to low amount of sticky reticule, but it’s high ROF and strong magnetism make it viable at all ranges, and fairly easy to use as a whole. I can usually kill people in 8 or 9 shots without much trouble, and this is still faster than a 5 shot from a BR (i.e., against someone who misses a BR burst)

A lot of people are looking for potential Forge update posts about whether or not it is coming out today or if it’s coming out later this week. However when you just responded I picked up on the post and read it, quite interesting. I haven’t really thought about the skill with precision it takes for variations of distance and which weapon is the easiest as well as the hardest to use in these variations. I’ll come back with my own opinion after I’ve spent some time with all the various weapons there are.

Thanks man. Yeah, I realized after posting that it was not a great time with the update and whatnot to talk about something deep and hard thinking lol. But I’m at work so don’t really care about the update atm!
I find the carbine tougher than listed at close range due to the number of hits to kill. It’s tougher to come by hits at close range when everyone is shoulder-charging and side-thrusting all over the screen, making a high hit requirement a tough criterion to satisfy.
i find the light rifle is too slow considering the speed of movement right now, it usually takes 4 shots at minimum, and because of the ROF that usually leaves you dead. carbine needs the most hits of anything, pretty self explanitory. DMR’s single shot with long range makes it the most consistent imo, it’s easy enough to miss one/twelve shots from a br and need another burst. pistols just don’t have the range.
I think that’s a good point. I find the LR fairly easy to use at close range (relatively) because of its 4 shot power. I think the carbine as a whole has always been the easiest at close range, but with the reduced amount of ‘sticky reticule’, it’s definitely not as easy as it used to be. I put as the easiest overall just because of it’s spamability.

I’m actually an AR fan (Look at my most used weapon, not an AR, but the DOMINANT SR), but even I realize that they are easier to use and not considered precision weapons lol. (Although I did laugh at this )

I understand where you are going with that, but I was just looking at the weapon overall. Part of using the LR is knowing when to use scoped mode vs unscope, and balancing the differences between the two.
I’ve found the carbine to be relatively the easiest to use… Maybe a little bit behind the BR. I am also quite fond of the magnum but I can see how it tames a tad more skill to use than the other precision weapons.
Honestly, I think it’s more subjective than ever in this game. I tend to use the Magnum until I find any of the other guns you mentioned, doesn’t really matter which one. That said often I just stick with the Magnum because it’s just so versatile, definitely better close range than the DMR and LR. BR is objectively the best if your aim is on point though, consistent 3 shot kills always win!
The magnum is easy as pre meditated yoink regardless what the “pros” say. Its just like the dmr without the long range scope and maybe a slightly slower ROF. Carbine, its pretty easy to use and can kill someone faster then a br at any range unless the br gets a perfect kill and you miss a shot. At long range, DMR is super easy. at close range, br/carbine. Mid range, DMR. The lightrifle is awesome don’t get me wrong, but its lack of a real scope makes it kinda weak as its only really useful when scoped because of the 3 shot kill. That’s my opinion though. I love light rifles btw. And promethean tech can burn in hell. Even that glorious incinerator cannon can burn in hell.
