- Your teammates AI in the campaign is stupid as hell. - The Story, seriously wth? - you can pay real money for Requisition packs.
Overall the game is kinda bare bones compared to previous installments in the series if you ask me. Theoretically I’d be fine with this if Warzone was enough to justify it but it’s far from perfect (I’ll go into Warzone in a bit). Campaign is what it is. The team-centric functions are cool but don’t really work at all- tagging enemies for concentrated fire hardly makes a change in friendly AI behavior. Co-op screws this up even further because only the host can tag enemies and no one else can- a design choice that defeats the purpose of team based play. Also if there is a mechanic for tagging enemies, why wasn’t this integrated into multiplayer??
The area modes are solid and the gameplay is as well for the most part. Bit of a learning curve which is nice. The spartan charge and air drop thing are cool at first until you realize it’s almost pointless and lacks any real practicality. The moves won’t kill anyone unless they’re already weak and if you don’t kill them, you’ll very likely end up dead yourself during the recovery animation frames. Nice touches, but they end up next to useless outside of style points.
Warzone could be great it just needs some fine tuning. Spawning for instance. The capture zones serving as spawn points are a cool idea, but using them as the sole spawn points creates an issue many find with Battlefield, in that I’m often spending far more time running to the battle than I am actually fighting. This in turn makes it far easier on the leading team to entrench themselves in key tactical locations on the map, because less time is spent pressuring them, than it is spent running to them. If capturing zones offered a number of spots to spawn , then that may remedy the issue. In the case of warzone assault, the spawning issue is even more apparent. The mode draws elements from Invasion from Reach, or Rush from Battlefield, assaulting objectives that the other team must defend. Both Reach and Battlefield allowed the option to spawn on teammates as an alternative to the default spawns because the Devs knew the maps were massive. If you have to spend more time running to the objective all the time, that kinda gives the defending team a bit of an advantage because there is so little time. Warzone Assault could absolutely benefit from a squad spawning system.
Additionally, there really needs to be optional hint/tip blurbs for the rules of Warzone in-game. It’s wholly unreasonable for me to losing games 400-1000 because my teammates aren’t aware of the rules and don’t know to kill bosses and maintain objective zones (or defend our core when it is inevitably exposed because everyone treats it like TDM!!). When enough people are clueless to the mechanics of the mode, the enemy team can snowball irritatingly fast which makes the mode feel not very fun.
Besides that, there’s no other modes which is a disappointment really. Halo 4 didn’t have firefight and now 5 doesn’t have forge. Customization isn’t as in-depth as it could be and the unlocks being tied to the req packs which really only pertain to warzone really rubs me the wrong way. Overall we’re getting less for our money here and the game is banking on a mode that neither has its the kinks worked out, nor does it make up for the glaring lack of content.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to give (read “sell”) us extra modes but then given their track record with Halo 4 and the MCC, I’m not holding my breath.

Is 343 going to just completely ignore the fact many of us got all our stats reset?! What happened to the halo we knew and loved? 343 killed halo for me with that sorry attempt at call of du… (Cough) excuse me, halo 4. I gave hope in thinking, hey, maybe they learned their lesson. Still,I like the direction their moving in. Halo 5 has the classic nostalgia with a “pinch” of modernization. But wait what’s that? No… No it can’t be… You only see the chief a few times throughout the story? But isn’t he like… The reason the game is well, halo? Was he not on the cover of CE, 2, 3, and the other which shall not be named? Wow 343, you’ve created a half -Yoink- game with a big title. Thank you for ruining my boyhood with this sad mistake… Completely terrible, via there’s 3 things to do in the game, (two of which are key selling points) all of which are broken
P.S.- for the sake of God and all of his children, don’t. Make. Another. Game…
Stats Reset… Due to what seem to be attaining Onyx in SWAT
My issues so far are for campaign only.
- No on off button for the torch, like the original halo’s, and the torch on the shotgun only lights objects up when you’re within 1m. Useless!!
- when flying, frustratingly they have swapped the pitch up and down thumb stick to the right, rather than traditional left thumb stick. This is awkward to get used to. Stranger still, when you go on to the in game menu controls for flight, as in invert y axis, The left thumb stick is highlighted for pitching up and down, not the right.
- I miss not being able to take weapons off nearby soldiers.
Granted, my last halo I owned was halo 3, so some of my points might have been replaced prior to this version and also some of the these issues I’m experiencing might even occur for other users but thought I’d point them out all the same.
Well the biggest problem for me, and it is a big one, the digital version of the game refuses to launch. One day in still no play time as its just a dead icon on my dashboard.
update: after three re-installs it finally started. Not inspired by this.
The Plasma Caster shouldn’t be a power weapon. IMO the Plasma Caster shouldn’t be a power weapon. I think its very similar in strength to the Hydra Cannon which isn’t a power weapon. I would rather have something like the energy sword, sniper, full rod cannon or something along those lines. When I play, I never see anyone really go for the Plasma Caster, or even pick it up when its on the ground. Let me know what you guys think.
- Can’t mute players in the lobby. Almost every time I load a matchmaking game, I’m forced to listen one-way to someone having a conversation with an IRL person or some kid screaming into his mic. Need a “mute all” setting in the options like in… well, just about any other online multiplayer game. - The Campaign would’ve been much better if we spectated Blue Team rather than spectating Osiris spectating Blue Team. - AR+Pistol is crap for two reasons. One, no one who’s any good uses the AR because the pistol kills faster and has more range. Players instantly switch to the pistol upon spawn, so the AR becomes useless. Two, BRs and DMRs become power weapons. Using a pistol, you simply cannot win a 1v1 against a competent player using a BR/DMR/any other on-map weapon. Every single Halo game has released with non-utility weapon starts, and every single developer later realized what a horrible idea it was and changed it. I tried every mode and got to Diamond in Team Slayer, but I can’t bring myself to do this anymore. 343i will inevitably realize that they made the same mistakes and fix it, and then I’ll give matchmaking another shot.
I am seeing alot of the maps as low rez…kinda like how they where in the beta. and also a lot of jagged edges on the textures.

I too have run into the same underwhelming response to my hard work

yeah much of the same here
knocks on wood
I’ve had no major problems worth mentioning tbh. I connect fast to all games, no resets, no spawn issues (only in warzone, I always spawn at the home base but i’m pretty sure that’s normal, it’s just inconvenient at times). I’m sad, I was hoping this launch week could be as bug free as possible.
Didnt recieve my pre order bonus content i pre ordered ot on the xbox one.
Here’s my list:
- No elites. I’ve been wanting to play as an elite since Halo Reach all those years back, and the MCC giving us only 3 models was absolute baloney.
- No weapon lowering. While there is the standard input of “D-pad Down+X+B+A” from the Beta, it currently still does not lower the weapon outwardly, just on your own screen.
- Theater Mode issues: I see none of the dolly cam settings or filters that were rumored to be about when it came to the camera settings, and when the UI is hidden in theater, you can’t hit “A” to pause and play without having to bring up the UI again and doing it. It’s just inconvenient and odd that they left it that way.
- No split screen, yet jagged animations still occur. The only excuse I can think of was laziness on 343’s part and their silly rush to get a game out super quickly, and what we do have are a bunch of oddly animated scenes where bodies jitter and whatnot.
- Lack of Forge: Probably one of the more forgivable offenses, but it’s still worth mentioning. i don’t have any need to dawdle with Forge, but it’d be nice to have.
For the last 5 games (not including the games prior to hitting my 9th ranked win) the games have not been giving me my final rank. I am stuck at 9 wins and still have not lost a game, I am ranked in other game modes so I do not believe that is the problem. I know this will eventually resolve itself but I would like this not to happen to others. to sum it up I have won about 17 games in a row and have not received a rank because of a failure to receive my match details at the end of the game. My friends are experiencing the same issues as well
Yours truly, Cruzais (IGN)
The only thing that bugs me is the no split-screen aspect of the game if you could some how add that then this game will be complete!!!
