ok so when you enter the library in CE 343 guilty spark says, “why would you bring such ineffective weapons against the flood!” or something like that, now i always wondered why as it doesn’t look like sentinel beams are that powerful against the flood, however he was talking about the scatter shot and light rifle and stuff.
i like this as it links the universe together in a neat little, almost accidental Easter egg. What do you guys think?

yep same, i mean flood are not very good, now 343 are making forerunners these awesome dudes, how in hell did they loose, but its probably down to the political breakdown more than anything.
Didn’t the forerunners lose because they acted too late? and the flood evolved. (Halo Legends, when cortana was talking about it.)
Forerunners relied on their (cant remember what it was called) “internet” when this was lost there was no mass communication amongst the colonies so they more fell apart than were defeated outright.

I always figured he was referencing some sort of forunner weaponry, but now we have specifics!

Forerunners just let it get out of control. Just trying to ignore it more than anything and before they knew it they were completely outnumbered. That’s how they lost. Numbers. They may have had all their bad -Yoink- weapons but there were too many. Plus the flood have a collective intelligence, the more they consumed, the more powerful they become.
Who seems to have fought the flood better humans or forerunners hmm…
Interesting. Forgot about that. Forerunners were idiots,(Who cares if they created me!?) but they had some sweet weapons!

I’m pretty sure they had already lost too much during the human-forerunner war and they weren’t able to act fast enough when the flood came back to the galaxy in an evolved state like you said.
Forerunners made plans for the flood 10000 years before the firing of the array… They didn’t create humans…
One of the first things I noticed is how good the weapons were to combat the flood. I like the connection.
Forerunner use the tech of whatever species they’re infecting. Forerunner flood are going to be tougher than human or covenant flood.
