Limited Edition..... never again

Let me just start by saying: I’m not a forum kind of guy. I don’t usually go on forums just to talk about a game or follow news or whatever. But honestly, Halo 4 was my greatest dispointment in buying a special edition of a game.
What was the point of it honestly? Early Specializations? Unless you no-lifed the game with double xp it couldn’t pay off, not to mention none of them seem to be better than the support slot they take up. Forward Unto Dawn movie? Reminescient of the crappy movies they always play on the Syfy channel when theres nothing better to play. Gun skins, armor, and avatar props? Out of all that I only ended up using the Cryo Chamber avatar prop. All those papers in the box about Spartan Thorne or something are all complete garbage. Halo 3 gave us amazing helmets which although wasn’t usable was still so amazing nobody cared.
This new game from 343 Industries shows me how the company is going to ruin my favorite shooter series. Trying to pump money out of their loyal fans, failing to provide technical support, and giving the keys to some -Yoink!- Gaming so that the game was competely glitching out the entire time. Honestly, unless 343 gives the limited edition owners something actually worth having or some edge in the game I personally am never buying their “special edition” products again.

You bought a special edition and got everything that was listed to come with it. If you don’t like what you got then there really is no one to blame buy yourself.

They did announce giving all the LE stuff to everybody before the game was released.

I had enough time to cancel my pre-order and go with the standard edition.

> You bought a special edition and got everything that was listed to come with it. If you don’t like what you got then there really is no one to blame buy yourself.

This exactly. I got a LE as well… I got everything I paid for… I actually enjoy it. And the parts I don’t like you don’t see me whining about.

For what it’s worth I am one of those “no-lifers” you mention.

However, still the above point holds, you got what you paid for, you knew what you were buying so don’t whine. Deals change. Prices change. You can’t expect a modern company to not move on with new deals and offers after the initial. It’s basic sense really, if you buy the initial deal with any product (particularly electronics) you have to do so with the full knowledge that better deals will come in the future. It’s part of life in all respects.

> You bought a special edition and got everything that was listed to come with it. If you don’t like what you got then there really is no one to blame buy yourself.

Doesn’t change the fact that it was bad. I don’t regret buying it, but compared to even the halo wars LE, it’s really underwhelming.

You knew everything that was coming in the LE edition. So you knew it was going to be underwhelming before but still bought it? Sounds like a bad decision on your part, maybe look into what you are getting before you buy it. DO you also buy cars, houses, or clothes without looking into them?

I need something of physical substance in order for me to consider buying a higher-end edition of any game.

  • Master Chief’s helmet w/Halo 3 LE? Hell yeah.
  • Noble Team statue and Dr. Halsey’s journal w/Reach LE? Of course!
  • Specializations, Map Pack, Avatars and a booklet w/Halo 4? PASS.

Everyone gains access to Specializations at SR50, and I just don’t care about dressing up my avatar. I am interested in the booklet but since it’s just incredibly ugly armor designs and a blueprint of Infinity it’s no worth paying an extra $40.00. They would have had me if the kept the Forward Unto Dawn DVD/BR.

So why would you buy something that’s “bad” knowing it’s “bad” from the start? I find it rather amusing that someone would buy something that they think sucks and then come here to declare that it sucks.

If you are still planning on purchasing the DLC maps(War Games Map Pass would be the way to go), it’s not an extra $40.

Standard copy: $59.99
War Games Map Pass: $34.99
Total: $94.98

In actuality you spend an extra $5.01 for the LE. IMO, I think it’s worth $5.01 more than SE+WGMP.

Yup. The dude is lucky. I bought my edition months ago for 100 bucks and i’m still waiitng.

I’m disappointed that to be a LE I recived actually nothing ingame to prove it’s a LE. Every game gives you something unique for the Multiplayer with the LE; and here what you got? A recruit altenative skin that is “almost” exactly the same of the standard and a Prime AR skin that has nothing to enjoy, as you can’t even see the difference when using it.

I still believe the LE was good becouse of the Map Pass, but 343 is just ruining the Halo world…

I’m happy as can be with the LE version.

No Specialization code stress
Map pass
Nice box to store it in

Nope, I don’t feel gipped.

I’m not whining, just stating facts. I didn’t pay for a game with terrible quality. From the big issues like tech support to the smaller details only true halo fans notice like spartans not having mammilary glands. Honestly, has anyone else noticed that? Halsey removed them from female spartans originally and although there have never been female spartans featured in the game before 343 can’t even do their own homework to know this. And now they’re making the games!

I had faith in the company that there would be more to it. Maybe if the Specializations didn’t suck it might not be so bad. Maybe if there was some noticable difference between limited edition and normal actually in the game they can bring in a patch it can prove worth it. But until then all I paid for was an underdeveloped, inaccurate game that is ruining the universe we all know and love.

LE comes with access to all the map packs which if you buy individually you’ll end up paying mor than the LE price so even if you don’t use the other extras that alone to me makes it worth it.

Why did you buy the LE if you didn’t care about the extras? What were you expecting or wanting? I mean you make no sense. You got exclusive in-game content(which you didn’t care about) war games pass and extra “look at” content. If you don’t like it it’s your fault.

> Forward Unto Dawn movie? Reminescient of the crappy movies they always play on the Syfy channel when theres nothing better to play.

Yeah, that was such trash. It’s only awesome for people with very low standards. I figured that with as much money as MS has, they’d have spent SOME of it on that “film”

You know you could give 343 a break. For one they seem excited and dedicated to the Halo franchise already. They make their first game in a series over 10 years old with pressure from a lot of fans. Granted, I’m not saying they made a perfect game. I am going to send this message out here on the forum as much as I can(for what tiny difference it will make) to give 343 a little slack. Heck if you were head of a company in 343’s position would you nail the game the first time? If you answer yes then beleive me, you are mistaken.

I mostly like my LE extras - although Forward Unto Dawn should have been on DVD - streaming is lame.

I’m really looking forward to the finished game to go with my LE extras, hopefully the wait won’t be too long.

> You bought a special edition and got everything that was listed to come with it. If you don’t like what you got then there really is no one to blame buy yourself.

Not true. We did not get everything we were promised. A special video called Bringing Gaming into Reality was promised to us. They actually never gave it to us. That’s false advertising.

i got the LE and i loved it, probably will get it for halo 5 too
