I’m going to pre-order the LE Console that has the custom Xbox One and controller, and includes the Limited Edition of the game. It comes with a SteelBook case, but, lo and behold, a digital download code, not a disc. I know that with the LEC, you will be able to trade the code for a physical copy, but will that also be an option for the code with the console bundle? It’s not that big of an issue for me, but if it’s possible to get the physical disc, I’d love to.
No clue. Find someone (someone you know and trust, irl if you can) getting a standard or LE copy and trade with them if it means that much to you. I think its only been confirmed that the LCE gets a trade in since its a collectors edition.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking of doing regardless. I just don’t see the point of a fancy-shmancy SteelBook if there’s no shiny disc to put in it, you feel? Well, I guess I COULD put the paper with the code on it inside of it lol
This has already been asked before and I will explain again. The console edition comes with the game PRE-INSTALLED. There is no “code” to trade in or give away. You will not have the opportunity to trade with a store or friend with the console.

Oh. Sorry, this is my first time on here in a few months. Darn, that is disappointing to hear. I’ll just buy the standard edition of the game second-hand then from a friend, later down the line.

My reason being for wanting discs is that I’m the type of person who likes having a physical item that I spent my hard earned money on. It’s satisfying in a way that a digital download cannot be for me. I also love showing off the cool and special things that I get, particularly limited edition games and consoles.

actually, I just copied this straight from Microsoft’s online store
“[1]Available at participating retailers, while supplies last. Halo 5: Guardians available for download after October 20, 2015; available to play after October 27, 2015. Digital content provided on a single download card inside package. Download from Xbox Live: ISP fees apply Warzone REQ Bundle, FOTUS class armor and multiplayer emblem require game and Xbox Live Gold Membership (sold separately). Halo: The Fall of Reach – Animated Series is streaming only via Halo Channel. Metal Earth model requires assembly.”
If it’s already on the console, why would they deem it necessary to state that the game will be available for download after that date, implying that it isn’t on the console already?

I get what you’re saying, I know they don’t HAVE to, but in a way, I think it helps them as well, as the satisfaction from getting a material item might drive a person to keep buying that company’s products

Yes, maybe. But the amount of money it would cost 343 to print discs for all of the LCEs and LE Consoles would not be worth it just to please a small minority.

Its hardly a dying format. The only reason why you think its a dying format is because companies like MS are forcing it down everyones throat instead of it being a natural progression. Sorry but physical media will be here for while still.

You seem surprised it has no disc… Every xbox one bundle, that includes a game, has been a digital download…
Idk if you can trade it, but I’ve heard Gamestop isn’t allowing the trade for a physical disc.

Yeq… even I knew that next time investigate before considering to preorder.

No, I knew beforehand that it did, I just wanted to know if they were offering to exchange it with a disc like with the LCE. It’s not a dealbreaker, I still pre-ordered, it was just out of curiosity.
The console comes out on the 20th of October, the game launches on the 27th…why are you surprised that there is no physical disc in the console edition?
I’m pretty sure all of the Xbox One consoles come bundled with the digital copy of the game.
- turn on computer and make sure it is connected to printer and has internet
- google… halo 5 disk, click images
- find the one you want
- print image, cut out image
- glue image to blank cd or over halo 4
- Insert said disk into steel case upon arrival.
- =] done.

Do you have a source on that?
No Xbox One Bundle so far had a game pre-installed, they always came with a download code.
