Limited Customization?!

I don’t know which Sparkcast it was, but I could definitely find out if anyone wants a link.

343i said that, in Custom Games, players would have access to all of the items in loadouts from the get-go, meaning they don’t have to progress through a ranking system like they do in CoD custom games.

I’m watching the livestream right now, found [here*, and they are showing the loadout screens for Custom Games. He says, “This is a brand new account, and most of these items aren’t unlocked yet.”

This is detrimental to all who play Custom Games, which is equally important in Halo as any other gametype, and contradicts what 343i said in the Sparkcast several months ago.

Custom Games are where players mess around, get serious, or simply take a break from Matchmaking. Custom Games have always placed an emphasis on customization (as the name implies), and without it, Custom Games will fail. Many people complained that Reach didn’t offer enough customization, which it clearly could have supported, and Reach wasn’t as popular among fans. Many players played custom games extensively in Halo 2 and 3, but few played many custom games in Reach.

343i needs to have the option of choosing any weapon, armor ability, grenade, specialization, or any other factor of a loadout, straight from when you put the disc in the tray and load Custom Games.

What are your thoughts? Did you notice the same thing as I did, or am I just seeing things? Is there an option for unlimited access to loadouts that I missed, coming to the stream too late?](http://www.twitch.tv/343industries)

They have the option to have all guns. He would have to disable custom loadouts and make pre-made loadouts to use any weapon at spawn. So basically like it is in Reach.

That isn’t what they said. They said we could have access to any weapon, any ability, etc. upon putting the disc in the tray, and that we could use those to make custom loadouts. Otherwise, what’s the point?

Fact is, they lied. Also, they extremely limited the option of customization, in a game in which they’ve preached their approach to customization options.

For custom games and forge yes, you don’t have to unlock anything. It’s when you play War Games and Spartan OPs is where you have to earn everything.

I am bit sleepy but i’ll tell you right now this game can be many things but lacking in customization isn’t one of them.

…Which is why i find it odd that this is no longer the case in customs. Hmmmm interesting. ;/ I would like to analyze the stream after wards, i did miss some of it too unfortunately.

Did you just contradict yourself on purpose?

First you say that what they originally said is accurate, but now you say that it’s not? Watching the livestream, I can tell that the player does not have access to everything immediately. They also must progress. Also, there was a postgame exp. bar, which they skipped through quickly.

(This is my first post I think, please excuse my “noobishness”)

I’m glad someone else noticed this. I VERY much hope that for custom games, split screen and system link especially, there is an option that will unlock everything. I saw a video revealing some of the custom game options, and it looks like you can only set 5 loadouts like reach. However, I fear this may limit the potential of certain custom games.
I can see how split screen would be a pain with 4 different players trying to set loadouts and control schemes, but for online customs and especially system link, this limits what players are able to do.

This seems like such a small problem, but really it has huge consequences. And its one Call of Duty grappled with until they put in a LAN system with everything unlocked in a recent game (MW2 i think?).

As an MLG fan as well, does this mean no loadouts for LAN? I certainly hope not…
