As long as we’re going to have a lot of complaint threads, there might as well be one that is actually helpful, to a degree.
From what I’ve been able to put together, the Pelican Gunship has taken over in terms of canon. Why wouldn’t it? It can do everything the Falcon can do, and is more effective than the Hornet. It not only has two turrets very similar to the Falcon in the back, but also a chin/chain gun in front, and a large gun on top. The problem is the Pelican Gunship is too big for most maps, and the maps that could possibly work with it likely don’t.
Although I would have loved for 343i to have included the Pelican Gunship, and even the Pelican Dropship, in Forge, it isn’t. It is possible that it could be included in upcoming DLC maps, some of which might be good for Forging.
It still doesn’t make sense from a gameplay perspective. How are we going to fly around and pick up our buddies if the only flying vehicle is the Banshee which is a 1 seater? Also unlike a Hornet or Falcon where you can hover around the map and do various things the Banshee is like a shark and is ALWAYS moving which can get frustrating. Not only is this horrible for matchmaking but it destroys custom games as well.
Good old halo 2 days where the Banshee was the only flying vehicle. BS Angle possibly forgot to post the vehicle which is the flying unsc vehicle because it could be the pelican (highly unlikely, its probably a falcon)
I feel the hornet and falcon were left out BECAUSE the setting of the game doesn’t call for them. Infinity crashes into requiem. Falcons and hornets probably weren’t on board or at their disposal. The infinity was launched as a peace vessel. Why would there be air combat vehicles in the first place?
> Experience/Gameplay always come before canon. If this really is the reason, I have lost some respect for 343i.

> Some people who don’t like using air vehicles wouldn’t understand how important they are for some people.
I would love to see both the Falcon and the Hornet, but unfortunately they don’t look too likely right now.
I wish there were still UNSC air vehicles don’t get me wrong I like the banshee but what’s better than dropping guys in the middle of a warzone while covering them with dual miniguns? Since Halo is already in production it’ll take a major update or DLC to get the new vehicles.
> How is a old screenshot irrelevant? Just because its old doesn’t mean its wrong.
It’s not only that it’s old, that one picture is the only evidence of Falcons even being included at all. It’s not in matchmaking, that we know, and we haven’t seen anything else including it from campaign. That picture only featured a background model of the Falcon, which tells us that it might not have been usable. On top of that, that picture was from a build that was older than the current build during E3. More than likely the Falcon has been removed.

I believe the OP started his post in explaining why the falcon or hornet is no longer needed in the canon. I merely pointed it out that it still is there.

I didn’t say it wasn’t needed, just that it most likely isn’t there anymore. Like I already said, that picture doesn’t prove anything, as it may have been taken before the decision was made.

yeah just like why does it have Warthogs, Scorpions, Pelican gunships, Mac Cannons, An arsenal ranging from the magnum to the spartan lazer, oh and lets not forget the AMRY OF NEW GENERATION SPARTANS AND MARINES ON BOARD!!! Its still a somewhat of a military vessel that also serves as the training grounds of Spartans not to mention it needs Weapons to defend it self just in case! They have every other UNSC military armaments why wouldn’t it have a falcon or hornet?!?!
