Likely-hood of a sequel to Halo Wars?

I see room for improvement in the series. Wondering if other would be excited for a sequel. I enjoyed the game. Did it meet its own projects expectations to justify a sequel?

I enjoyed the game. Although it did not hold my attention for long. Played a few games with friends and it was fun for a while.
We’ll just have to wait and see.

Probably not very likely…there’s always the people that play it a lot, like us. However, more people are interested in shooters, and that seems to be the main goal of most game companies these days.

What if we had a BFBC2 like game, based on the pre covenant conflict between the UNSC and Insurrection? Oh, I just got a huge list of weapons, balance, vehicle, and classes go through my head…

The fact is that many Halo fans picked up Halo Wars and sold it right back when right trigger didn’t shoot things. A sequel would be a bit tricky, too. Spirit of Fire is classified as lost with all hands, so it can’t just show up to save the day or anything. If it showed up anywhere it would all be under a secret ONI mission.

Otherwise we could get a sequel with new characters.

I don’t think we’ll see a console RTS based off the Halo Universe anytime soon; a direct sequel to Halo Wars even less. Cost efficiency and all that, in regards to creating a game of the queality demanded these days, and the number of units sold.

I would love another halo RTS and a sequel to the Spirit of Fire’s story.

I’d love to see the the story of the Spirit of Fire continued.

I’m not so much excited about RTS. I know that Halo Wars did it the best for console, but it’s just too much of a time investment for competitive multiplayer.

If done right, I think it could prove to be interesting… But I think like many people have said, more people care about shooters, but if I saw it on the shelves in a GameStop I might just get it.

Shooters are doing it right. Some non-FPS game that came close to doing it right like shooters would be Crimson Skies, DOA 2 & DOA 4, and MechAssualt.

There wasn’t much skill involved with MechAssualt - find enemy and pull trigger, biggest Mech wins.

DOA 2 & 4 were pretty decent in that they featured several people in a lobby together watching 2 players fight, usually winner stays on. But there wasn’t a whole lot to do when you weren’t fighting and sometimes waiting took a while. There also weren’t a ton of people playing either. It’s not in fighting games to allow multiple people to fight at the same time in the same arena, but I think the first game to pull this off will be huge.

Crimson Skies just didn’t have enough people playing IMO. It was just as fun as Halo back in the day and it was definitely more skillful than MechAssualt.

Mechassault wasn’t too skillful, but MA2 was a different story IMO. Used to be you just ran around in a big walking tank, but now you’ve got VTOLs, tanks, power armor, turrets, etc…gets complicated.

True, I forgot about a couple of those items. The VTOLs were neat… the tanks weren’t so much. Still, the bigger Mechs always won. What were they called again? I think Goliath and/or Atlas. Pretty sweet concept, but the imbalance hurt the competition. I liked the idea of competing for territory online though. That was kind of neat. It was almost like Star Wars Battlefront, except that it was online. That’d be an good path for any multiplayer game to go in. Players would spend days online in the game trying to assert dominance.

I’d love it: but the likelihood of a sequel, from “1” to “The Second Coming of Jesus”, is probably about a “12”.

The fact that Halo was originally supposed to be an RTS makes it a unique possibility. Ensemble sadly got shut down but 343i may bring something to justify a new story through an RTS perspective. Though, I’m a bit concerned due to the size of 343i. Unless, they are in fact hiring.

The majority of Console fans have a short attention span for RTS games. Most like fast paced action and super quick instead of preparing and planning for attacks. I enjoy Halo Wars but, for the console it doesn’t work, due to community. A Halo Wars sequel on the computer is talking business though.

I love Halo Wars. If they made a game that is similar to Star Wars: Empire at War but based on the Halo Universe it would be my favorite Halo game.

And I’m not sure why people are saying the game wouldn’t sell, the fact that it has Halo in the title means it will sell more than your average game with no foundation.

They don’t have anyone “trustable” to produce it. Ensemble, the original creators are gone, only to be resurrected as ROBOT Entertainment, which is a separate company now, and not really trusted by -Yoink!-.
Inside -Yoink!-, there’s really no one they want to give it to. And except for the Bungie veterans at 343i (Myth), no one’s ever really worked on an RTS.

This is true, but Halo is obviously expanding which means that they may have to get ballsy and take a risk. They took a risk with ODST since it wasn’t a full-blown Halo game and it still sold well.

That would be cool, they’d need to add Space battles though and Spartans we actually know. Either that or make a Battlefield/Battlefront style game.

Battlefield and Battlefront are rather different styled games…Battlefront is just “We’ll stick you and your friends with a bot and let you duel it out, preferably carrying your team. /discussion” Battlefield is “We’ll give you all this teamplay stuff, and actually encourage tactics, along with taking out the -Yoink-! factor.”
