There’s been a lot of talk amongst the Halo community of finding a compromise that appeals to both classic and modern sides, and I feel Halo 5: Guardians’ Mythic gametypes have shown us that compromise. Featuring classic gameplay with the ability to thrust and stabilize, Mythic is a playlist that should absolutely become a permanent addition to Halo 5: Guardians.
If you agree, let’s talk and see what we can do to get 343 Industries’ attention.
Supposedly, the playlist isn’t popular enough for permanent status

What are the player numbers?
It’s funny how they talk about popularity but when it dropped it was popping and had a bunch of people who stopped playing to check it out including myself. They removed it so everyone went back to their lives. And you put into a random rotation what do you expect?
Me and the squad came back for Mythic, It is the only gamemode we will play in Halo 5. Sad to see it go. Hopefully it comes back, or Halo Infinite has the same feel.
Mythic was awesome, played with a team of 4 and we all were pissed off they took it out again

I agree with all three of you. I actually remade the gametype (and downloaded the maps) to continue playing it.
If Halo needs additional movement mechanics, this is the way to do it while still making it feel like Halo.
I found it to be really fun!
Not to mention it’s the only place to get 4v4 Assault right now - I miss Assault, and the SC commendation that goes with it!

I don’t know. I’ve heard others’ saying that though.
Though, honestly, I’ve played permanent playlists that were harder to get into a match quickly than Mythic Arena, so that logic doesn’t make sense to me either.

343 wont release playlist numbers. However, the idealogy they follow with rotational playlists is that if they remain popular after their normal rotation period, then 343 will consider making the playlist permanent (like what happened with Super Fiesta). If Mythic Arena hasn’t been made permanent after two rotations, it means that it’s population had started dropping off by the end of its rotation.

The problem is that we don’t know the extent to which it’s dropped off. Assuming there’s ten thousand people (just for the sake of a number) playing the game on average and only four thousand people playing Mythic, that’s still a lot of people to disappoint.

We don’t need to know those numbers. 343 makes decisions based on data, not personal feelings. It’s not like they have a vendetta against Mythic Arena and wanted to get rid of it. The rotation period will rotate in a new playlist long before the previous rotated playlist gets to unhealthy levels of low pop. They use statistical analysis to determine the trend of a playlist and if it fits the same trend as other rotational playlists, it’s getting rotated. Mythic Arena may have still be relatively populated when it rotated out, but it was likely on a downward trend, following the predicted behavior of other rotational playlists.

Disappointing your consumers hurts confidence and, as a result, can negatively impact sales. Even if less than half of Halo 5: Guardians’ playerbase was affected by the removal of the Mythic playlist (even if it’ll eventually rotate back in), those players are left with a less convenient way (without rank and cosmetic progression) of experiencing what may have been the single reason they’d hop on every day. That doesn’t inspire confidence in 343 Industries or their future products.
Even niche audiences matter when you’re attempting to improve your reputation.

If every niche got a permanent playlist, matchmaking times for everyone would skyrocket, and people would stop playing altogether. It may hurt that your favorite playlist is out of rotation but 343 has to consider what’s good for the majority population and the overall health of the game. Unfortunately, for older games with not alot of general population, this means consolidation and compromise.

Why do you say something you have no knowledge of?
If 343 gave us number stats, it’d be different, but we have no clue what the population was.
Additionally, Halo 5 for about a week while Mythic was out was having issues finding games NO MATTER WHAT PLAYLIST.
The popularity is obviously there for this game mode. Users are loving the old-style of halo, with the addition of the thrust for a newer change up. That’s actually a change for the better.
If 343 cared, they’d actually talk to us, and give us some input to what they were wanting to test out and get prepared for infinite.
The battle rifle is what most users want, it’s missed tremendously.
No more spartan charge, no more ground pound, no more sprint.
Maybe bring Mythic Arena back on the regular Team Arena maps, and see how popular it gets.
People love the game play of Mythic, the maps were questionable in my opinion (some good, some awkward.)
Users also are missing this playlist so much that we’ve come together and are hosting custom 8’s on Mythic game types and maps (sometimes even switching to different map types with the same mythic settings - halo 2 br, etc.)

I didn’t say every niche as a playlist with fifty people is essentially useless. However, Mythic had to have been significantly more populated than that.

I agree, but the regular maps were designed with all of the abilities in mind. The few issues the Mythic maps have would be much worse on 343 Industries’ maps.

I agree with everything you said (that can be shared with anyway). Though, I said that it wasn’t popular enough because:
A) it probably would’ve become a permanent playlist if it was popular enough
B) I heard that it wasn’t popular enough by some users (one of which was a Monitor, so I imagine they’d know a little more about how Halo 5 is maintained. I could be wrong on that front though)

Obviously the playlist isn’t as popular as you think it was, otherwise it would be permanent. Wait for the playlist to rotate back in like the rest of us have to for playlists we like.

Still no population numbers? If you’re going to tell me that only a handful of people were playing it, provide proof. If you can’t prove that it didn’t have enough of an audience to justify its continued availability, there isn’t anything “obvious” about it.

It may hurt that your favorite playlist is out of rotation but 343 has to consider what’s good for the majority population and the overall health of the game. Unfortunately, for older games with not alot of general population, this means consolidation and compromise.

The proof is that the playlist is not permanent right now, therefore there wasn’t enough players at the end to justify keeping the playlist. That is quite obvious.
