Because she has a physical body now. She’s not just a hologram. Hence the fact you can’t see through her.
She looked better in Halo 4 imo
I think the halo 4 look had it down. I don’t know how to explain it, but cortana in halo 5, looks weird.

I agree I like 4 better, this cortana just looks off a little? But she still looks amazing! I think it’s because she looks different than Halsey who she was supposed to be modeled after.
I quite liked the new ‘costume’, but her face was quite different, and it wasn’t a change for the better in my opinion.
The Halo 4 (and H5’s opening cutscene) look is my favourite. If they gave her the ‘costume’, but kept the face as it was, I’d dig it.
I like the new look. She resembles Jen Taylor a bit now which I’ve always wondered why they never attempted that before. H4 Cortana was a little over the top in my opinion. 343i might as well have given her -Yoink!- and a -Yoink!-. I like the new modest look.
I think she looks good in H5G.
Although he physical form appears to have gained a few pounds over her holographic form - perhaps she has consumed a lot of date from the Domain.
Appart from being blue, she looks very real, if you know what I mean.
Halo 2 Anniversary had the best Cortana out of all the games.
Better in halo 4
Her face is a little too “solid” for my liking and she looks pretty odd with the Forerunner style body, but…
She’s pretty much an entirely new character now, so it makes sense to give her a new appeared to go with it.
I like her new look,but I loved her look in halo 2

She needed to keep the aesthetics of her Halo 4 face.
I really hope that her altered visage is explained (and fixed) at some point in Halo 6.
She looks pretty impressive I think, I love how they made her new look appear. Didn’t mind her old design either but it’s nice to see character development in this way as well.
