Is the damage of the light rifle/carbine on a vehicle the same as a br or DMR? I only ask this because the needle rifle in halo reach was absolutely useless on vehicles…
Anyone know?

I dont think its really known at this point, but I know vehicles are more beefier this time around, and that Carbine is much different than the Needle Rifle. The Carbine in general should have no trouble damaging vehicles of any type, but would be weaker toward Covenant vehicles I would imagine.
The Light Rifle should do significant damage overtime to vehicles of any type, since it uses hard-light energy, but I don’t see it being a weapon that is used as often as the DMR or BR.
I myself will be giving the Covenant Carbine a shot
I loved it in Halo 3 :).
I cant wait to team carbine kids again haha
I only ask because the carbine is the obvious choice for BTB or Dominion because its so precise at long ranges.

The DMR and Light Rifle would like a word.

The DMR, BR, Carbine, Light rifle should do next to nothing damage on a vehicle.
Since there are so many 1-shot-kill weapons now, I believe they are going back to how it was in Halo 1-3. The heavy weapons kills the vehicles, and small- and middlearms kills the infantry.
I will be incredibly disappointed if I start shooting at a vehicle in Halo 4 with my BR and it begins to fly across the map like in Halo:Reach.

I agree, light, anti-personnel weapons should not be able to ping warthogs across the map like the did in Reach. Maybe do a very, very slight bit of damage, but really you should have to hit the driver with a weapon like that.
Meh i like being able to do vehicle damage in halo reach with the dmr, but seriously i know the br and dmr will do vehicle damage, but what about the carbine/dmr?
Trying to being some light to this subject, as it is prime time now.
Vehicle health has been buffed but the damage caused by the utility rifles is not known.
Only way we discover that is by playing the retail build.
I hope none of them do anywhere near the level of damage they did in Reach. Man the Sniper and DMR were irritating.
I imagine the carbine does absolutely next to nothing on vehicles, the light rifle on the other hand. The forerunners made the hard light energy guns to wipe out the flood back in the day, so i hope they stack up to the DMR/BR and yes i agree the vehicle damage in reach was a bit much.
But then again the scoped shot of the LR is supposed to be stronger then the hip fire (4sk), so could this potentially be more powerful then the br/dmr? I don’t expect people to be shooting many vehicles that are driving away NOT scoped.

Agreed. With Plasma Pistol starts we don’t need vehicles to be like paper like they were in Reach.

I agree, after all the vehicles in halo 3 weren’t actually that beefy, they definitely were way stronger then reach. But then again the BR spread was insane and in halo 3 you feel like your a slug most of the time with the slow movement speeds. So that’s why the vehicles seem so powerful in h3.
The vehicles will most likely be very strong, but i think we will manage with not only plasma pistol starts but also everyone having sprint and a tighter br spread.
