I was reading the thread about if Halo should end at 6, people don’t want it too but they want master chief out of it.
But could 343 really create another great character like John? He’s one of those iconic characters of gaming and he always will be. I don’t know if Halo can really have another main character that fits the game as well as john does if we’re going forward in the timeline. Noble six barely made a sound, the same with who ever the main character was in ODST. I think they could do well if they make us our own spartan again but not as well as chief. What do you think?
All in all, have chief deal with the forerunners and the precursors then we can leave him alone.
Chief isn’t really that great of a character. Iconic, yes. But that is it, either than that he is just some guy in green armor and a fishbowl on his head.

His backstory imo makes him a pretty good character.

Strictly speaking from the games. And even then, the other Spartans backstories aren’t all that different than Johns. I think Soren had a way more interesting one personally.

Yeah strictly from the games, that’s all he is + his love fest with Cortana (Just kidding) I think the spartan 2’s and 3’s were just the most interesting overall, john also has had all the different experiences throughout the games, sure you could do that for a new game, but its going to take another twenty years. If they do go the route of creating a new MC, take him straight off the production line, spartan 5 a safer route to re creating the spartan 2/3s so he’s also on the same level of MC.
To me, MC is halo. Between CE and then the Fall of Reach, (the novel), the Chief got me hooked. Since then I’ve played every game and read every novel multiple times. He’s the character I started out playing as and my favorite halo novels are the ones with MC as the main character.
Don’t take what I’m saying the wrong way. I feel all of the rest of the characters, stories and or books in the halo universe are great. They all compliment and add great depth to the universe in their own way and without them halo would be very bland.
I personally would have no problem with 343 continuing on with MC after halo 6. In fact, I hope they do.

Completely agree as long as they don’t milk the character and bring something new to the table, really evoke feeling.

Everybody knows chiefs armor is made from the hardest paper mâché
If they continued to develop his character, I wouldn’t have a problem playing as Thorne, or once again the Arbiter
That would be interesting to bring the arbiter back into this…and I actually really like Thorne…but I don’t know how that would work.
