Lighting Engine? Better Lighting than Halo 3?

I still have yet to purchase Halo 4. (I was planning on hopefully getting it a while after Title Update 2 is released).

And I still haven’t seen much footage or screen shots from the game. (Yes I’m still in the dark).

But from what little I have seen, the game looks like Halo Reach 1.5 Shiny High Res Edition, with Halo 3’s lighting. Is the Lighting equal to Halo 3’s or Worse? Or is it equivalent to Halo Reach’s? Or is it better than both?

Or just for fun, How is the games lighting compared to Black Ops 2? I Heard Call of Duty got better lighting in MW3 and then another bigger improvement in Black Ops 2…

Halo 4’s lighting, audio, and graphics are the best on the 360.

the glare from the sun can be a bit much sometimes though, in my opinion.

Don’t waste your time. Halo 4 is little more than a pit of disappointment and depression.

Anyway, Graphically the game is EXTREMELY hit and miss. They focused very hard on making Master Chief look amazing, and alot of the weapons, enemies, and environments look incredible. So much so that whenever you see something that is NOT graphically impressive, it looks silly and cartoonish, and clashes completely.

Unfortunately there are alot of things they didn’t focus very hard on making graphically pleasing too. For instance almost all the Covie ships in the game are basically miniature CCS’ that are graphically inferior to their HALO 2 equivalents on the original Xbox. They are just blobs of Purple, with some black spots, and Green lights.

Also, the explosions in this game are a joke. Every time you see something blow up in the Campaign/Spartan Ops my only reaction is “Wow, what is this, a saturday morning cartoon?”

… Which is actually my exact reaction to ALOT of things you see in this game, sad when you think about it.

This , and the Visors, oh god they look like a Cartoon for me

Fos Kuvol beatme to it, the game looks very drab overall. Some part look ok, but most things in the game look like something from an anime. The art style is not eerie and dark anymore, but bright and glossy. The lighting is exagerated and over the top. I honestly prefer the way Halo 3 looks in terms of the lighting, because at least everything wasn’t so saturated with light and reflectivity like they are in Halo 4. Hope that answers your query.

Man, you have all the reason

“Good lighting” typically means bright annoying lights either from the sun or when they try to emulate going from the dark inside to the bright outside (don’t know if there is a name for that).

I prefer not to have good lighting in my video games.
