I’ve been loving the light rifle in this game. I feel that they did a good job of distinguishing it from the BR and DMR. How do you guys feel about it?
I’ll know in about 7 hours!

Does the beta not update for everyone at the same time?

Means we are at work and can’t play till tonight lol
But on topic, the Light Rifle looks cool in this game, and I love that its now a weapon found on the map, and not a starting weapon choice. There is a 3 shot zoomed-in kill, but that’s perfectly fine with De-scope in this game.
Haven’t spent any time with it yet. Is it the same as H4 (single shot when scoped, triple burst not scoped)?

Yeah its the same. The scoped shot is still stronger than hipfire.
It’s interesting. It feels almost like a semi-power weapon because you burn through ammo quick with it. It feels much stronger than the DMR and BR which is a good thing but you have to be very accurate with it as well to save ammo.
i think its pretty good. With it being a 3 shot kill (when zoomed) it makes it a viable option to pick up and replace your BR/DMR with, or to hold it as a secondary.
To me it feels like it shoots slightly slower than the BR/DMR too which balances out the 3 shot kill.
Overall, like all other weapons in this beta. It’s well implemented and well balanced

You do have to conserve ammo. It can only last a few encounters. I think that balances it.
Light rifle is really -Yoink!-. I like that it’s a little more powerful than the others rather than just having a different firing style.
Haven’t played yet today, but that scope is sooooo sick.
I don’t really like it. I know that it worked this way in Halo 4,but I don’t like that it deals more damage when it’s scoped in. I can’t explain why, but it just doesn’t feel right. Not a fan. And I love precision weapons and all but isn’t the BR/DMR/Pistol combination enough? I mean add in the Light Rifle and now you also have wonder about Carbine and potentially the Needler Rifle. It’s an over-saturation of the precision weapons.

It is a powerful tier 2 weapon now. Looks and feels good.
solid.

Yes and no. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses and a large sandbox never hurt.
BR - Rapid fire, can kill in four shots, yet if you don’t land all 3 bullets or you miss a shot you lose.
DMR - Rapid fire, can kill in 5 shots, good for long range, but if you get caught in a close range battle you will lose.
LR - Rapid fire when not scoped, slower when scoped. Can kill in 4 or 5 shots not scoped, and can kill in 3 while scoped. Has a relatively small magazine and not much can be carried in the back pack.
Carbine - How fast can you pull the trigger? A larger magazine, and can kill in 8-10 shots, but it is inaccurate, and you have to pull off a ton of shots.
Needle Rifle - Can fire shots about as fast as the DMR, about the same amount of ammo, but it takes 6-7 shots to chip away the shield. 3 additional will super combine. Can also be used automatically but is extremely inaccurate.
Each weapon, like I said, has a strength but if used improperly, will get you killed.

Well that really depends. Without custom loadouts now, seeing a lot of precision weapons at once will be less common. Unless there are match starts with the other precision weapons, similar to BR starts, then these weapons feel more like a step in between starting weapons and power weapons. Personally, I have have loved the Light Rifle and it’s power. It is well balanced because it only has limited ammo and more is not easily available to pick up. An average player will likely be able to get around 3 kills before they are either killed or run out of ammo, and even a skilled player could be expected to get 4-5 kills before meeting a similar fate.
It’s probably the most powerful precision weapon, considering the fact 2 shots will take someones shields out.
IMO they should just take out the DMR, because it truly serves no purpose in its current state.
I really don’t like the “pew pew” sound of it
So happy it’s back. Was my favorite in halo 4. Just like the feel of it especially since I suck with a sniper it makes a balance for that way I prefer to fight and giving me some power distance at the same time.
4 shot kill unscoped
3 scoped
its a awesome looking weapon, much more fun than br/dmr
