Recently, I noticed a fun post about something along the line’s of building your own loadout. Cool, I said. I took a quick look and immediately took note that the Light Rifle was placed in the Primary Weapons section. I was surprised. From what I’ve heard, the Light Rifle was supposed to be a 4 shot kill, something that firmly places it in the “Ordnance Drop or even Power Weapon” category.
It wasn’t until later that I came across something hidden in July 25th’s Halo Bulletin about the Limited Edition Halo 4 console. I’m a big Halo fan (Halo 4 Limited Edition already preordered at GameStop) so I kinda skipped through this section but I saw on the page something about an “In-Game Light Rifle skin”. Now, maybe it’s just me, but wouldn’t that suggest that the Light Rifle WILL be a Loadout weapon? Most likely one that is unlocked much farther in the Spartan progression system, but still.
So can I get an answer on this? Aside from that, I haven’t seen any other concrete evidence of the Light Rifle possibly being a Loadout weapon. If so, please give me a link. Thanks!
Also, can anyone tell what exactly “specializations” are?
From what I recall specializations paths the player can progress through after reaching the highest base level. They unlock new armor and emblems maybe. Don’t quote me on that

I think Light Rifles are too powerful to be a loadout weapon…at least for MM. However, I believe we may be able to take any weapon we want into Spartan Ops and Custom Games though, but it’s going to take awhile to get the Spartan Points needed to buy those higher-tier specialty weapons.
As far as the skin thing goes, it could have your skin on it when you call it in from a POD.
I hope it’ll be a loadout weapon… it looks and seems awesome.
Of course, 343i will have to balance it.
From E3, the weapon is burst shot zoomed out and single shot (a little more powerful) zoomed in. Maybe the 4 shot is for zooming in? Which won’t always be as effective in a fight when you’re constantly zoomed out… that could balance it somewhat.

I personally think if you can get a skin for it, the light rifle could be possible to become a primary weapon. It’d be too weak to be an ordinance weapon I think.
Being a 4-shot kill means absolutely nothing in where the LR is placed.
It’s how many shots in how long a time that determines a weapon’s placement in as a light, heavy or powerweapon.
Firstly, the Carbine is a 7-shot killer, at least was… That means nothing unless I say it’s a 7SK in 1.5 seconds, the DMR is a 5SK in 1.6 seconds and the BR is a 5SK in 1.7seconds. (not true numbers BTW, at least not yet).
If the kill time is between the BR and DMR for the LR, then ordinance placement is not needed.
If the LR was a 3SK in 1 second… OK now we’re into heavy weaponry and ordnance use.
It was once said to be the Promethean “sniper,” which doesn’t imply 1SK potential, but it does imply cross-map ability with 2-3SK’s in a quicker time frame than the lightweapon rifles.
But recently the BR was described to be easier to use than the LR. That doesn’t rule out the LR being a 1 second long range precision killer, but that does elude to comparable power to the lightweapon (loadout) rifles themselves.
So time will tell where it falls, though its placement sounds firm at the moment.

thats a BAD thing to say. better weapons should never be for higher ranked players only.
