Light Rifle Mastery

I finally Mastered the LightRifle today and man this was a tough one. Swat doesn’t use it and it’s hard to use this weapon competitively especial in Rumble Pit and Big Team Slayer. But I finally got it mastered, and when using the Carbine. I kind of miss the Light Rifle something was very unique about this weapon even though it normally loses to a BR at close range. There was always something cool about winning a battle with this weapon.

Anybody else Master this weapon that I hope makes a return in Halo 5?

You should have played Action Sack. I consistently get 80-90 kills with the LR per game in Lightning Flag (not the biggest fan of being target practice in a 1sk gametype, I would much rather be constantly slaying making it easier for team mates who are keen on running the flag). Not mastered it yet though. Personally I can’t stand how limited it is as a precision rifle so don’t use it much. Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t miss it if it was gone. I think its a great addition to the franchise.

I mastered it before the carbine, but I love my LR so much. I’ll be heart broken if it disappears.

I forgot all about Lightning Flag. I was a level 46 in Big Team and was trying to get a level 50 so I just kept playing. It did help me reach level 40 in Rumble Pit though. I felt like a Gundam Thruster Packing while shooting the long beam.

Oh Light Rifle. It was the first weapon I mastered way back before they ruined it with the update. Solid aim let you stomp all over just every other precision weapon(and it had amazing synergy with the pulse grenade).

The rate of fire nerf to the unscoped fire and the buff to the scoped messed up the scope/unscope dynamic. This is on top of the entirely unnecessary increase to the red reticle range(90m is all you need for a 3x weapon). The whole “DMR/LR limit map movement” argument is ridiculous, but the RRR on the DMR and LR certainly don’t encourage movement.

I was generally happy with the update, but this is the one major area that bothered me.

RIP Pre-patch Light Rifle(the precision weapon with the highest skill gap since the CE pistol) :frowning:

I still think it took more skill out of all the guns. The BR can still wreck players, from everywhere because of the 4 shot no damage drop off. The DMR will always be the DMR. The Carbine is sadly underrated. But the LightRifle, truly felt rewarding getting those kills. Something the BR,DMR will never have. That’s why I always wish Halo 4 had titles or an emblem for mastering certain weapons like the Plasma Pistol.

Good job! I have mastered it too (before it was buffed I did!) I really like the lightrifle I use it all the time in infinity slayer. With sensor it works great because it alerts you to people you can get some good scoped shots on and allows you to prepare and prevent anyone from getting too close.

Thanks to CTF and BTB I mastered the light rifle. I still use it almost exclusively on larger maps like Exile, but the smaller ones are still reserved for the BR and carbine, which reminds me: I still need about 300 kills to master the latter. I honestly don’t get why more people adapt to the awkward reticle and slow unscoped ROF and embrace its sheer power.

But it is easy to use in BTB. I whooped on DMR kids all the time when I used it even before the weapon update.

Third weapon I mastered. First was boltshot, second was pulse grenade, third was lightrifle. Not sure if fourth was suppressor.

I like my lightrifle a lot.

I envy you sir for mastering the pulse nade. I love it myself.

OT: congrats OP!

I wish I remembered that sooner, I did it the hard way lol. I’m glad more people use this weapon.

I used it before the update but never finished it.

I mastered before the update, and even had it as my favorite weapon for awhile. That was before Legendary Slayer of course.

I am sad to say that I never got real good with this on smaller maps. I mostly stick to using it on BTB or if players want to keep their distance with their DMR. I always have a loadout ready with my LR and Carbine. I love the way they sound and feel.

I finally finished it in Rumble Pit. Man, let me tell you the struggle of using it close range, which is why I used Thruster Pack to Help my Strafe.

I sense a theme here…
