At first I hated the Light Rifle because i didn’t know how to use it as many other people don’t know how to use it. Putting time into this gun i realized that in the right hands of somebody skillfull,it can be a monstrosity. The hip fire as we all know has the slowest kill time and the scoped fire has the highest killtime. Combine 1 Scope + 3 hip shots and it becomes a fast 1.3 killtime, killing faster than 4 full scope shots of the Light Rifle.
I’ve learned to make this quite effective in most situations. Close, Mid, and Long. Challenging DMR players is no problem now.
DMR=1.5 Secs to kill
LR(hip)= 1.8 secs to kill
LR(Scoped)= 1.4 secs to kill
LR(Scope + Hip)= 1.3 secs to kill
Give it a try and master this gun. This gun was meant to be mastered.
The light rifle is my favorite weapon in halo 4. I just get annoyed when in my mind I’m getting perfect head shots, but it turns out there body shots, and then I get confused and die.
Yep, fastest kill there is (while everyone complains about the “OP” DMR).
I plan on moving to LR next (after DMR mastery). I’ve been going up against more and more LR users who dish out some lethal gunplay with it.
I’ve gone against LR here and there in plenty of games, but as more people are getting the hang of it, I’m finding myself in more tricky situations trying to survive vs a skilled LR user.
I can use it long range, but it’s medium to short range where I’m having problems. I don’t know what to do and I’m getting destroyed so quickly. But with a DMR, I don’t have any problems.
If you miss 1 shot you are almost guaranteed to loose every 1v1.
Flich effect this gun more than all the others.
It’s reticule is big and unprecise, on big maps the DMR is much more effective (flinch makes it even worse on big maps).
It’s mechanics are complicated and clunky (trying to get a sooped shot) which makes it even easyer to miss shots.
While tis gun may be good for killing people that are not looking at you, it’s so slow that it’s just not worth it to use it in frenetic situations, the Covenant Carabine is much better for this kind of situations…
Point is, it’s not good for big maps because of flinch and big reticule while it’s not even good for faster paced maps because it shoots very slow…
Completely agree. Lightrifle + Stability = awesome combination. I always liked using the Lightrifle, especially scoped in from long range. I find that most people who complain that the DMR is overpowered usually just suck at aiming. Of course you’re gonna lose 1v1 with anything if you’re a terrible aimer. If the DMR wasn’t in this game, people would be complaining that the BR or LR is overpowered. Shut up and get better.

It takes a while to master at all ranges, but sometimes i jump in the air for headshots. Also make sure your strafing and keep as much distance between you and your enemies. The more distance, the easier it is. But the DMR in its current state is overpowered and requires little to no skill, so thats why i use the light rifle because its fun using it.

All of these points go to me telling you to master it. And the Light Rifle has the most precise reticule of the weapons. Its the ideal gun for BTB, especially on Ragnorak
It’s scope function is the only reason it’s any good. Try to five shot from the hip with that thing and your going to get destroyed by BR and DMR users.

Actually people are complaining about the DMR because its: Easy to Use, Fast Rate of Fire, High Aim Assist, Can be used at all ranges, and its overall versatility. Its the Jack-Of-All-Trades weapon and it shouldn’t have such a high kill time if it is that easy to use at all ranges. It just kills other peoples fun.
Once I finish with Carbine’s mastery (5/7) I’ll move on to the Light Rifle, of course I use it a lot in BTB/Complex so I’m already at 5/7 with it, then I’ll be finished with the starting precision weapons.

You kiddin bro? It’s best on big maps. Scoped shots deal a 4 shot kill instead of a hip fired 5 shot. I’ve been using the LR since I first unlocked it, and it’s my go-to gun. It actually takes some expertise to use, unlike the DMR, which ruins the game for me.
The only thing I hate about it is that it feels like it runs out of ammo really quickly and I’m not willing to part with my current set up of armor mods for the ammo one.

Yea i know what you mean. You burn through the ammo quite quickly. I found the ammo mod to be useful but considering nobody walks around with a light rifle or a carbine makes it kinda immpossible to find ammo, especially since those are my two favorite guns.
