Light Rifle=Best Precision Weapon

Good lord this gun is amazing, I never really used it much until today but once you get used to it, it is incredible. The first few matches with it were not pretty but once I learned how to use it properly it became a killing machine, much better than the DMR, which I had previously been using. It is also very satisfying to get a kill with it and has brought new life back into Matchmaking for me.

I’m sorry but it gets destroyed in mid or cqc against a similarly skilled player wielding any of the other precision weapons. It’s rate of fire is way to slow.

In long range it’s boss, because of its 4sk.

It’s really good… I use it… but we all know about the DMR. :=|

The problem is that at very long range it has no auto aim where as the DMR has lots, making the DMR still more accurate even though it is technically a slower kill time

Yup. Very versatile weapon if you put work into it. Thats what i tell people but people still think it isnt good…just like the Carbine is a boss.

I love using it, but sadly it gets destroyed by the DMR if you are both attacking each other. Also you cant no scope due to its slow rof.

It does ok in mid range combat if you can get a scoped shot in, though it is bad at CQC, which is why I have a Supressor as my secondary.

Yeah you have to train yourself to use the scope more often, which was hard for me considering all that time I used the DMR.

It’s only bad at cqc because of its ROF. If it had a faster ROF it would stand a chance.

I would use the light rifle more often. but…well the BR just help’s me better against the dmr.

My DMR disagrees.(pew pew)

Yeah but then it might be too powerful, I like it the way it is being more of a challenge, also it should only be used on BTB or other game types on large maps, don’t expect to win in 4v4 with it.

Not really since it’s a 5sk not scoped. Leave the ROF the way it is when it’s scoped, just make it a little faster when not scoped is all i’m saying.

And I do only use it for my BTB LOL  Once I Master it though I will be replacing it with mah Deemer.

I can see why people like the DMR though, it is still a good weapon at all ranges. I prefer the Light Rifle as of now, also I am happy to see more people using the Carbine, which is also a decent weapon. Every player has a different style of play so whatever gun works for you is fine by me.

I really dislike its concept. When I first heard of it they said it was burst fire from the hip, and single fire when zoomed. I thought that was a great idea, a precision weapon that works better at short range, average at mid and not as effective at long. At short range the burst fire will hit the target, at mid range there’s a chance the spread might cause you to miss a few shots, and at long range the burst fire will most likely miss, at when zoomed in will only fire one “bullet”.

But in game, the concept is pointless. There’s not enough spread on hip fire to miss at short, medium, or even long range. Then I find out that zooming doesn’t fire a single shot, it fires all three shots from the “burst fire”, but are slightly more accurate then it already was. Also, slightly stronger, which doesn’t make sense either.

It easily takes the most skill of any of the precision weapons. Its magnetism and auto aim are not to the degree of the DMR, its burst spread is negligible compared to the BR, and the rof punishes missing the headshot more than the DMR at Long range and more than the Carbine at short=mid.

Its rof isn’t so fast that one can’t move from cover to cover at range.

The unscoped rof differential between the BR is negligible at best.

Seriously, the LR is the most skillful primary in the game but we will never see it as the primary(beyond simply an option) in competitive settings as the IPC(Invisible Pigeon-holing Council) has decreed that only Human weapons should be the primary in competitive Halo. You would think we were a Modern Military shooter the way people stick to the human weapons(which I like too but seriously people give other things a chance).

Lightrifle is hands down my favorite MP precision weapon since the pistol(which we will never see the likes of which again)

I’ve been using it for a while now and enjoy the 4 shot kill. I have been noticing that sometimes my 4th shot does not count, though. This frustrates the hell out of me, and I am pretty sure it is just lag, as it has happened to guys who aren’t playing…I KNOW I am getting head shots and end up having to shoot a 5th time.

After using it for quite some time, I have become pretty good with it. One day, after getting zoned in on my aim, I decided to pull out the DMR—and HOLY HELL. I just destroyed after this. Use the light rifle, get good with it, then go back to the DMR and see how well you do.

Yeah I believe I remember 343 talking about that before the game was released and that gun would be great if it was like they were claiming. Even though it’s not like the concept they described I still like it but it isn’t very logical that it would do more damaged scoped than unscoped but then again it is a sci-fi schooter.

I guess I’ll try that and I do see what you mean about the 4sk. Sometimes you know you got a head shot on the enemy yet they still live.

Correction > The Carbine takes the most skill.
