If halo 4 does not include some type of ranking system that very closely relates to halo 3’s, the game with flop after about a month. There won’t be a reason or drive to me most of the hardcore multiplayer fans playing. Feeling the sense of achievement and accomplishment by getting to level 50 completely surpasses the feeling of getting, for example, the rank of inheritor.
If they ship this game without a VERY similar or exact leveling system like halo 3, I hope to god people stop playing or someone makes a petition for it…This is coming from someone who had multiple 50’s and hundreds upon hundreds of hours in halo 3 and halo 2. And what seems like only a couple dozen hours in Reach. There was no sense of accomplishment while playing Reach, ever.
While the Ranking system has not been reviled, besides the 1-50 exp specialization one, I am certain they will have a skill based system
They have said that there will be skilled based match making.
I hope to god you are right. I found it ridiculously funny and embarrassing when I was only a sergeant, destroying mythics and inheritors and such. A skill based system in Reach was absent…
> While the Ranking system has not been reviled, besides the 1-50 exp specialization one, I am certain they will have a skill based system
That’s for sure confirmed?
My main motivation in Reach (besides playing with friends and trying to become a better player) was collecting the unlocks. ;/ I tried the Arena several times but i just found it incredibly boring and pointless. Tried as i might, it couldn’t retain me as a player long enough to get ranked really high.
Hopefully something like a ranking is in Halo 4. I won’t die inside if there isn’t (well maybe a little) but i know others would jump off bridge with the exclusion of a rank based system.
I look forward to Halo 4 at any rate.

Wrong, the hardcore multiplayers playing will play regardless of whether they have some soulless number to brag or not. IMO, it’ll get rid of a lot of the “MLGPR0” players.
The true fans wouldn’t quit like that but a lot of competitive players would be sated.
They have 1-50 and when you reach 50 you pick a Specialization and then you go and level that one up from 1-20. Any BPR skill ranking has not been revealed so the whole ranking system you guys want from Halo 3 might be in the game. just stop making threads about it already i thought we got through this already.

Truth …
uh welcome to waypoint. nice way to start off

That’s the progression system, that has absolutely no relation to who you are paired up with. You can hit rank 50 by playing nothing but Spartan Ops.
He’s talking about a trueskill system. The one where it paired people up depending on their history of wins and losses.
As to the topic: Frankie said there will be a trueskill system. However, they are not doing Halo 3’s 1-50 system, or Reach’s Arena system to accomplish that.
That’s all we know in the relation to a trueskill ranking system in Halo 4 at this time.
What happens when you don’t reach level 50?

I’m pretty sure they’ll use the BPR system that the site has that 1-100 skill range for matchmaking.

Besides not being able to unlock the Specializations and level them up? Nothing really.
What happens when you don’t get to level 50? When you don’t feel the rush of pure utter enjoyment and accomplishment? You feel like crap. And then you boost to it to make you feel better. Isn’t that right OP?
Can we please stop these threads? They already confirmed a skill based ranking system, so stop asking for it and stay calm until they give details, please.
It would be like if people kept making threads about Armor Lock and why it’s bad when it was confirmed to be out a long time ago.

When did they confirm it? Post please?

The reason they havent said anything about a ranked system is because the only people who care about it wont be happy with what they come up with. Halo 4 is all about new experiances and fun chaotic gameplay. The only skill matching will be internally but the only indication of how good a player is will be to check their k/D. Halo 4 is all about Ranking up and unlocking stuff in game. Not about becoming the most skilled player in Halo

Thats a stupid point. You are pretty much saying there is no room for the competitive players then. Which is a HUGE percentage of the halo community
