In Halo: Reach, I can level up my character in Campaign, Multiplayer and Firefight. I’ve been reading and watching a lot of interviews and I haven’t heard anything on ranking up through campaign. So… am I right to assume that you can only rank up in Spartan Ops and War Games?

That is what I have gotten out of all this awesome information. I like the idea, no more boosters:D

Hopefully.

Except I’m pretty sure your rank in Spartan Ops is the same as War Games, so you can technically boost those over and over again. No different from Firefight.

Depends on how it’s handled, you may get much less xp in SPOPS than War Games, unlike how each gives you the same if not more credits for a FF game than a MM match.

Except that -Yoinks!- over anyone who legitimately just wants to play Spartan Ops without having to wade through the -Yoink–fields of multiplayer.
Now I do think that the amount of experience Recah gave you between co-op and competitive was unbalanced but I wouldn’t pin the problem on firefight. I feel it was multiplayer which gave you too little, which is a pretty important distinction because it created one dousey of a frustration in the competitive community (whether it was expressed or not) that pushed multiplayer types into firefight just to get easy Exp. If we make the two at the balanced with one another that shouldn’t be so much of a problem because SOps would not be the cheaper alternative. And if that doesn’t work as well as 343 would like you can just drop the SOps experience by a small amount which will compound over the course of game after game after game to disproprtionately affect boosters over the rest of the community, who isn’t in it just to maximize their ranking.
Big hits to SOps just aren’t necessary.
