Let's Utilise Halo 5s Potential!

Alright everyone, as we all know, we get updates every now and then with content. How good this content is has been a matter of debate, but this thread will give ideas on how to utilise Halo 5s potential with these updates. But first, I have a few things to state before getting into it.

  1. This post is in no way to hate or flame 343 or anyone, as it seems many posts suggesting ideas to improve the game, get people who say “don’t like it don’t play it”- This thread is to discuss and create ideas that will improve the experience for EVERYONE.

  2. Whether you love this game, or it has disappointed you, we can all agree that it does not have anywhere near the amount of content or variety past iterations had. This problem can be fixed in these updates, and this thread is to discuss what can be put in these updates to add endless possibilities to this game.

Now let’s get into it!

Firstly, gametypes! These are a must, at a minimum, we need Oddball, Infection and assault. Why these three? I will explain it here:

Oddball- Anyone who has played halo from the start would know how much of a staple this gametype is. When you aren’t playing CTF, BTB or slayer, you were likely playing oddball. Or customs. I don’t need to explain this much further, as I’m sure many understand why this is important. In terms of possibilities, imagine it with the new Spartan abilities we know have- clamber, thruster, etc- Oddball can utilise these.

Infection- Now this is where I have some great ideas. I won’t really talk about the gametype itself, I know everyone knows how fun and important it is to halo. Following will be some ideas which can be created with Halo 5s abilities and weapons. (Modified infection variants)

Alpha Zombies- The first zombie (alpha) spawns with a Prophets bane, while everyone else is a player human, with a standard shotgun and magnum. As the alpha infects humans, they will get standard swords, and his abilities become stronger (increased thruster or Spartan charge range maybe?) The last man standing (the last human left) will get a legendary shotgun (Blaze of Glory- the White one). The rest of the zombies will get the ravening silver energy sword to compensate. So now you can see how crazy this would be!

Zombies- The standard infection style, with similar ideas to the previous. Last man standing gets legendary shotgun, and all zombies get the ravening silver energy sword.

Now these are two possible, crazy, fun gametypes from infection, using halo 5s new additions.

Assault: Now we all know why this is important- GRIFFBALL!! Even the base assault gametype is very fun.

So that’s gametypes, I obviously ran out of ideas, so feel free to think up of some more!

Second, is forge/customs. This was sort of mentioned in the gametypes area, but imagine if we can use the new weapon variations in forge and custom games. You could have one gametype where one team uses base variant weapons and vehicles only, but have far more of them, and the other team uses the best Tier, but has very little. Example, 3 standard scorpion vs 1 ONI scorpion vs 3 standard banshees vs 1 ultra banshee vs 3 standard wraiths vs 1 ultra wraith…all at once! Crazy right? That is the potential i see here. Imagine these sorts of playlists in action sack, where all you do is spawn in these vehicles and just cause mayhem…FOR THE FUN OF IT. Without worrying about how many ONI tanks you have, or wasting your good cards. Those can be saved for warzone.

Discuss these ideas and your own in the comments! Now I hope we all see why there is a big demand for these gametypes, as now you can see the crazy possibilities they can bring!

EDIT-- So far so good guys! Keep these ideas coming! Also, for those who are first reading this, take a scroll down and read others ideas and see if you can add to them and give feedback. As a result, we are already seeing some great ideas being built!!

I’ve said this before, but I’d love multi team infection. Like 4 teams of 2 playing against 2 alpha zombies with Ravening Silver. The teams can’t kill each other. Everyone spawns with a magnum and there are 2 sets of shotgun spawns with 2 shotguns. The teams would have to race to the shotguns. The point of having only 2 players per team would be to encourage teamwork in order to survive. The last team standing would get the Blazing Glory. If the last two survivors are on separate teams, no Blazing Glory because you failed to help your teammate. I feel it could get really intense.

Agreed, especially on the zombies one, but like in halo 4 with flood of course. Zombies is just so over used in most games now, but it is still a fun gamemode (in halo 4)

That sounds like a great idea, building on the standard multi team, and using what Halo 5 adds to spice it up. An action sack playlists with this sort of thing would be great! That was my favourite thing about reach, one specific gametype (forget the name) where we get golf clubs and hit the golf balls into the hole. No killing, just 8 players scoring the balls into the holes as fast as possible-in matchmaking! We need action sack so badly in halo 5.

Yes of course, I forgot about the flood part! What about, instead of flood, we were promethean-like zombies? Wouldn’t that be crazy? Have the orange oozing through the cracks of armour while we rush the survivors!

I remember that game! I couldn’t agree more. Action sack was always my goto for pure dumb fun. I miss those crazy -Yoink- gametypes!

Indeed, I always wondered how they came up with them and created the map to register the score. We have a great forge tool now, we just need more gametypes to use it.

Yeah, some of these forgers are just crazy good. I wish my forge abilities went beyond ‘drop fusion coils here’ lol. I really hope they drop at least a few new gametypes for us this month.

I am hoping for some sort of surprise in that regard.

This idea is outstanding. Loved first reading this when you posted it on my post. Glad you got your own up for this fantastic idea.

I want dedicated CTF playlist above all.

Ah yes! Utilising the new and improved forge to its full potential! And maybe have a legendary gravity hammer up on a higher platform where you need to parkour to get to. So you have a choice between going for the bomb, or the legendary gravity hammer!

I agree, but maybe team objective instead, as having a playlist for each gametype would be too much, the population is low as is. Dividing it further would make it harder to find matches.

Team arena should be renamed to team objective, and just take slayer out of it, as we already have a slayer playlist. And then add oddball into that mix if they decide to add it.

Scripting in forge has opened up so many possibilities that it makes me dizzy.

I agree with team objective, but I’d probably remove arena breakout too.

I enjoy it, but I know many people don’t like. Personally, it’s one of my favourite gametypes, it’s like CTF but faster paced, as in CTF people often sit in their bases until the dying minutes then cap to win. Which is fine, but I prefer the intensity of breakout.

But yes, i can’t wait to see what people will do with such gametypes and forge scripting together.

I do like it, but prefer regular breakout to arena. Personally I just feel that the elimination game type doesn’t jive well with the rest of the playlist.
