Let's try Kill Cams

There seems to be a lot of confusion revolving around player death. It can feel unfair to be blasted away randomly without knowing where from. One small way to address this without making any actual tweaks to the game would be the addition of a kill cam. Keep the current Spectator death screen but in one of the corners add a small window showing the last 5 seconds or so of the player’s screen who killed you.

Thoughts?

I think we have theater mode so you can go back and watch what happened.
Kill cams kinda suck and snitch out where I am with the sniper.

I think I prefer when the death can automatically focuses on the direction of the shooter.

The death can currently does not so that. It’s a static camera, which should change. Let players look around during the respawn phase.

If theater is still inaccurate, I doubt cams will provide any more clarity.

Ah yeah I like the orientation in the direction you were killed from. That’s a decent middle ground. It’s not helpful at the moment being locked in place staring at your corpse.

This is exactly how the kill camera works already in Halo Infinite though, it focuses on the player that killed you from the perspective of your body, if that player is within line of sight.

The death cam works fine, and 8/10 times I see who killed me and where.

But why?

The kill feed tells you who killed you and with what weapon?

Most of the time they’re right near you as well and it takes long enough that you know you’re getting shot?

There’s even on-screen visuals to let you know which direction you’re being hit from with projectiles?

Players show up with big blue/red outlines around them?

Snipers Rifles have Scope Glare (one of the worst mechanics ever introduced into the FPS genre) on them?

You have a radar to tell you where enemies are exactly around you?

I actually can’t fathom how there is any ambiguity whatsoever around how you died in this game? It’s actually even MORE generous with giving you information than any other Halo game before it.
