Let's Tell 343 What We Want In Classic

So guys, contrary to what Frankie said numerous times a while ago, there does not seem to be much support for Classic gameplay in Halo 4 Matchmaking. We are pretty sure…

You can’t disable Sprint
You can’t adjust Autopickup for Flags and Balls
You can’t change Flag carrying to Classic style
You can’t change Infected settings (unconfirmed)
and more…

So, instead of wasting our time imagining the ideal Halo 4 that is very similar to Combat Evolved, let’s work with what we have so that maybe we can help 343 Industries help us. Let’s propose what we want Classic gameplay to be in Halo 4, taking into account certain restrictions such as the inability to disable Sprint.

In my opinion, Classic gameplay should be this:

No Loadouts– EVERYONE starts with map-default weapons and grenades (AR, Magnum and a Frag or two would be good). Nobody gets their own perks or Armor Abilities

No Ordinance– Weapons are found in specific locations on-map.

No Sitrecs (Killcams) and 3 Second Respawn– This is less important, but if its customizable in basic Custom Games editing then I think it should be included

However, I think that Halo 4 weapons, vehicles and maps should be used. I’d rather play Classic gameplay on new maps than play on Forged remakes in one of three Forge maps. I also think that we should not fight Sprint, because it will be much harder for us to get that taken out of Classic gameplay (we can fight that battle after our first victory on the Classic front).

Finally, I think that certain Classic gametypes like Big Team Classic should have Armor Abilities for pick up, because that system was great in Halo 3. Abilities like Regeneration Field and Active Camo were found in some iteration in Halo 3 Matchmaking. Classic can be a combination of Halo the type of gameplay found in the Original Trilogy, in my opinion.

So how do you think Classic gameplay should be implemented without much change necessary?

A 4sk BR that’s all I want

I support this

I understand that, so do I, but this thread is about changes 343 can easily make with the Customizability options available to players.

Allow motion sensor
No AA’s and Perks, everybody gets resupply
No Ordinance drops
Overshield and Camo as pickups
Ar/Magnum Starts, can vote on some maps with BR, DMR starts
10% more dmg or whatever makes DMR, BR 4sk
No Sprint if possible.
Plenty of Br’s, Dmr’s, and Carbines on maps with AR starts

Thats about it.

The ability to disable sprint and use classic flag/ball settings is all I really care about for classic gameplay. Also power ups and ammo on maps.

I just want ordinance drops out. That’s all I want, you can keep all the other changes

> Allow motion sensor
> No AA’s and Perks, everybody gets resupply
> No Ordinance drops
> Overshield and Camo as pickups
> Ar/Magnum Starts, can vote on some maps with BR, DMR starts
> 10% more dmg or whatever makes DMR, BR 4sk
> No Sprint if possible.

Thank you very much, kind sir. I am adding to my original post the idea about making the BRs and DMRs 4SK.

This thread is more about easy changes we can make using Custom Games, but I agree about powerups. I’m adding that to my original post.

“Classic” Halo, as in pre-Halo Reach, would have to be:

No Sprint
No AAs
No Perks except for Resupply (so you can pick up grenades)
No Personal Ordnance Drops
Weapons Only Spawn on Certain Places on the Map
Overshield, Camo as Power-Ups
AR/Magnum default starts, with option to vote for DMR/BR starts sometimes
Flag At Home, No Auto-Pickup, Flag Dropping allowed in CTF
No Passing the Ball in Oddball
Damage slightly buffed to make DMR and BR 4SK

Good point about the perk resupply.

The largest change from classic style that scares me is the ordinance and randomized weapon drops. That seems so contrary to how Halo has always been balanced that I’m very skeptical it will feel right. That said, I trust 343 and the reviews coming out so I still have hope it will work. Though if there ever is a classic playlist, that should be the first thing changed.

A Repackaged H3 Multiplayer

You can keep your H4 multiplayer too…

Just there should be like different lobbies that when you see Classic mentioned in the title you know it will be almost identical playwise to previous Halos. None of this new -Yoink- that “improves” the game which it clearly doesn’t…

Personally If they had come out in the beginning and been like hey guise H4 new story and -Yoink-, also we’ve jsut repackaged the old H3 multiplayer, I reckon more people would have bought as they are frustrated of not being able to get into games on H3…

CoD pulls that out of their -Yoinks!- each and every year and nobody -Yoinking!- complains what is it with these -Yoink!- Mother -Yoinking!- Snakes on this -Yoink!- Mother -Yoinking!- plane…

And I don’t give a -Yoink- about Maps any map is fine…

The old halo games will always be available to play. I wouldn’t mind seeing these changes available in custom games.

What do we do when Halo 3 has its servers shut down? just like Halo 2…

The sad thing is it’s been 5 years, and so we are ever closer to losing another of our beloved, and we have no hope that anything similar will ever return…

So I think that every now and then we gather together as a community and play the hell out of it for a short period of time every month or so or a few weeks a year, just to show Microsoft that we still love it and we would not want it to be taken away from us…

However, this is just a dream, it is all but inevitable that we will loose Halo 3 Multiplayer for good, and then what… and then what…
