So we currently have a bunch of visor options in game. But does anybody else feel like many are sort of the sameish. I havent unlocked them all but many tend to be this gross purple-redish hue that i rarely see people use.
Also, i cant seem to find the perfect classic style gold visor that replicates the old style in the old halos. I suppose i gotta keep getting gold packs. But in all honesty, i preffered the simple halo reach setup of visors. Who else liked that?
What are your favorite visor colors? What are your least favorites? Let me know your thoughts on this miniscule gameplay detail lol
In terms of favorite visors, there’s only two that come to my mind:
- Flood (Rare) has a lovely green color to it. No funky color mixes, just a bright, bold green to it. Also, anything related to the Flood itself is instantly cool. - Saturnine (Ultra Rare) is the closest you’ll get to the classic visor color seen in the older games, specifically Halo 3.

Right! I dont like the color mixes that much. Makes the visor hard to look at.

Thats what I’ve determined so far as well. Its just not as bright as i want it to be

Yes, in fact “sort of sameish” is a massive understatement. Why wear the legendary Rampant visor when nobody can tell it apart from the common Blindside visor? Why wear a Glacier visor when it looks just like the default Recruit visor? It’s completely ridiculous. This was also a problem to a certain extent in Halo 4 (for example the easily obtainable Solar visor looked almost identical to the relatively difficult to earn Blindside visor in that game), but it’s taken to a new level in Halo 5.
I just can’t wrap my head around how something like that could have been approved. There’s no way 343 couldn’t have known many of the visors are virtually indistinguishable when viewing other player’s Spartans, whether on the post-game carnage report or, heaven forbid, during the match. This kind of thing is very annoying to anyone who cares about playing as a stylish, unique character.

I liked that too. The nice thing about Halo Reach was that you could easily tell which visor someone had equipped, with a quick glance at their Spartan during a match. That made it worthwhile to show off hard to earn visors. But in Halo 5 I can barely even tell the armor apart.

> What are your favorite visor colors?
In Halo 5, I have a favorite visor for each color:
- Red: Remembrance. It’s the brightest red and I also like to “remember Reach” - Lighter pinkish colors: Burgundian. The only visor that comes close to matching the salmon color. - Magenta colors such as raspberry: Matrix. A nice bold single-color visor. I like these. - Orange: Autumn. There are plenty of orange ones to choose from such as Legendary and Saturnine, but I like Autumn because of its flavor text. - Yellow: King. This is the boldest yellow, and possibly the visor I use most often. - Green: Aurora. Though it’s darker than the other visors of its color, I like its flavor text a lot better. - Blue: Pendragon. Ditto the Aurora visor, and if I’m going to wear a blue visor, I don’t want people to mistake it for the Recruit visor. - Cyan: Abyss. Looks great and love the flavor text. - Purple: False Dawn. Dianthus is a very close second, however. - Brown: Dauntless. Very nice for matching Landgrave weapon skins when paired with armor that is colored desert+pepper. - White: Beltane. The brightest visor, almost like the preview images of the helmets. One of my favorite visors.I rarely deviate from these few visors. When I do, it has to do with flavor text. For example using the Wild Hunt visor with the Military Police helmet because it helps for cops to decode gang signs
I also like some of the dual-colored visors, such as Rime and Torchbearer, but I almost never color my armor with two non-neutral colors, so I don’t get a lot of use out of them.

I don’t have least favorite visors as much as I have visors that I wish would stop looking like other visors. And I don’t think it’s as miniscule as most people think. Being able to look good and unique is an important part of the feel and aesthetic of the game, for many people. I hope 343 takes this into consideration and keeps the visors distinguishable in Halo 6, like they were in Halo Reach.
The Visors I only like are Frost, Midnight, Flood, Rememberance, Wild Hunt, Rex, Daybreak, I forgot this one was called but its description has this in it “Starring at lifeless rocks”
But honestly there’s too much Purple visors
Yeah I’ve felt that the visors don’t really feel all to different to be honest. It’s like an extra over done step that no one notices in game. They should just keep it simple next time around, basic colors

I completely agree. 4 wasnt awful but the colors were odd to choose from in general in that whole game. I think they found out now after 5 that quantity doesnt beat quality. That goes for the armors too

(Legendary should be pretty close to a gold visor)
But my favorites are Mithril and Pendragon.
I believe the dynasty visor was confirmed to be a similar to the H1-H3 visor matter chief has. Throw it on with the classic armor and it looks awesome.

Dynasty is the fully gold visor, but I believe Legendary is the visor from H3. It’s more of an orange gold color. (the name also may imply it’s this visor)
Agreed. Half of the visors are similar to one another in Halo 5 Guardians (i.e. Autumn, Clockwork, Envy, Vandal, King, Solar, Dynasty, Saturnine). They should add custom designed visors like Sharkface from RvB back in Season Nine, that would’ve been better than Eighty percent of the visors we have now

I sure hope so. My biggest concern is that the req system will come back in Halo 6, and 343 will once again churn out as many visors and armor variants as they can (or just bring back the identical visors and poorly-designed helmets from Halo 5) in order to fill up the req pool

So that people can complain about having too few options?

True true it’s a battle we can’t win
I’ve been saying it forever, but I want some animated visors.

I honestly don’t think many people will complain about removing identical visors and cutting down on some of the duplicate purple ones. Regardless, it would be the right thing for them to do. Some people will complain about anything, but 343 needs to remember how important it is to make the visors distinguishable, and I know they can do that while still giving us plenty to choose from. I think that would be the best middle ground to reduce the number of people who are unhappy with the selection of visors.

Exactly, reduce the copies of similar color and make them more defined! It should be clear which one you are using. 4 had the right idea with this but as is said before, the color palette for that game was off overall
Legendary

“I honestly don’t think many people will complain about removing identical visors…”
I have my doubts about that.
And the thing is, they aren’t identical. They may be quite similar, but they have some slight differences that may be visible only from the right angle, and to some people that is enough. Are you saying that currently there aren’t enough varied options or that there are simply too many that are nearly identical?
I definitely agree that beyond customizing your spartan from the menus, it becomes impossible to differentiate the numerous visors in-game, but that doesn’t bother me.
Pretty much all the customisation in halo 5 is the same , really disappointed with the options compared to previous titles.
