Let's Talk Undersuits.

Before you dismiss this thread, no, __this is not about wanting black undersuits/techsuits.__

I decided to write up this thread because I feel that in the next Halo game, undersuits/techsuits should have far more options to tailor to the preference of us players. In Halo 5, the armors we wear in Matchmaking don’t all fit the Spartan 4 body shape properly. This is because they weren’t meant for that slim body shape. A couple examples of armors that suffer this issue are Hunter, and Helljumper. Giant gaps where the shoulder sections are. Pretty much all the armors that Fireteam Osiris have suffer this flaw in some manner, but this is not limited to just those suits.

This got me thinking, why didn’t 343 add the techsuits Osiris wore, instead of sticking us with the design meant for Blue Team’s armors. You can clearly see they’re meant to be in Matchmaking since the armor they go on doesn’t fit the current techsuits. I think it would be a good way of bulking up some of the suits that generally look very misproportioned also. The only reason that they may not have added them is for licensing or the members of Osiris being “unique.” but then you could argue that those in game armors already have designs so they are different from the original.

Does anyone else like the unique techsuits Osiris wore?

I personally do not like the techsuits Osiris wears. I much prefer Blue Team’s armor only because I feel it’s more efficient and cut and dry. I also think Osiris looks slightly silly lol

I like Blue Teams undersuits too, but theyjust arent proportioned right on some armors that I like which is a little gripe

There’s a few armors that weren’t meant for the slim build of the Spartan IV bodies besides the Osiris armors. Those very same armors on the Osiris techsuits are perfectly proportioned and this makes the bodies also proportioned and look very bulk like a Spartan should.

I miss the black undersuits… :L

Yeah, I would love an option to not only have a matte black undersuit, but also to use undersuits like Fireteam Osiris to compliment and fill out their respective armors. 343 could even add other Undersuit options too.

We need atleast the undersuit buck wears with helljumper, as without it, helljumper looks so very different.

My biggest complaint for the Osiris armors is Locke’s and Buck’s. Without the Light strips in Matchmaking, the Hunter suit doesn’t look right, and both armors have massive shoulder gaps. Plus the Osiris suits were bulky and filled in them gaps.
I think the black undersuits would even look great on them both if it were an option.

As for a black techsuit, it could be a tertiary color feature like armors had in Halo 3.

I, for one, like Fireteam Osiris’ undersuits/techsuits WAY better than Blue Team’s. Osiris’ suits actually look like they’re armored and have several thick layers like a Spartan suit actually does, unlike Blue Team’s, IMO.

As I’ve said before, black undersuits/techsuits are much better than colored ones, IMO. Black makes the armor pieces “pop” more than usual, which is good because it makes it easier for players to identify what unique armor you wear and to admire the artists’ work on all the armors. Also, it makes more sense from a Lore standpoint because all Spartan units have black undersuits (90% sure of that) because it’s easier to blend in with the shadows and for camouflage. Oh, and there’s no reason to even add color to it - it simply doesn’t serve a purpose.

Vale looks like a bee too me, and of course buck has the best armor. The tech suits themselves actually do have plates of armor on them if you look very closely but it’s all the same color. Personally I like the whole space diaper design of the Spartans of past. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, halo Wars 2’s menu Spartan looks amazing and I want halo 6 to take that direction with armor design and customizable undersuits.

The Halo Wars 2 Spartans from the menu (wearing the Mark VI design) have the Spartan IV undersuit all black. Still, there’s massive gaps because that body style doesn’t fit the more classic armor. It is a bigger improvement though being black.

I don’t like Chiefs undersuit in Halo 5. He has green showing on his shoulders, but it does not look good. Halo 4 Chief looked badass through and through.

…but that’s just my opinion.

Yes precisely! Why a red team Spartan would have a brightly red coloured undersuit is beyond me…

Hell yeah, the Helljumper bodysuit was the nicest bodysuit I’ve ever seen, sad to see it not come to multiplayer.

I understand their reason for suit color.
Anti camouflage.

But can’t we have black suits for free for all?
And when we view spartans out of games?

Such a simple option.
Our primary and secondary are already forced why not make undersuits a team forced and non optional third channel.

black is default until you play a team gametype.

Yeah, I’d probably wear a unique techsuit every now and then. Locke’s is cool, but Buck’s is hilarious.

This, all the undersuits in Osiris other than Buck’s are pretty dumb looking and I can’t stand Locke or Tanaka’s armor.

I think Buck’s is the best. Likewise I think it should’ve been the base armor all spartans wear
I think Tanaka’s would be good for the Noble Team armors since it is a bit less detailed than the Spartan IV bodies. The Hex patterns make the more classic armors look weird in my opinion.

Still trying to decide whether you’re being sarcastic or not, lol.
