Lets talk team mates

I’ve pretty much had it with the Halo 4 matching system. It just doesn’t work. As a CSR 1 I would expect to be put with players of a ranking of 1-10. But as a CSR 40 I should not be matching with anybody less than 30 let alone two CSR 1s and a guest.

My 3 team mates got a combined score of 5 kills and 27 deaths.

Granted on this specific occasion I was playing in Action Sack, a casual playlist. However that doesn’t mean I should be matched with lesser skilled players nor is it an excuse to match me with them. This isn’t the only occasion this has happened. In fact it happens virtually everyday and will continue to until matchmaking is fixed. Yesterday I played a game of SWAT (as a 45) and got over 8x my two team mates combined score of 5.

I understand the game has low population but I highly doubt that out of the 500+ currently playing Action Sack, myself, and a CSR 9+29 (my opponents from the above match report) are the only players higher than a CSR 1. Its even worse when I play SWAT and get matched with CSR 1s when the playlists has almost 2000 players.

It happens far to often and I’m quite honestly sick of carrying my team mates (going 20-30+ kills every game) and still loosing. I shouldn’t have to play with friends in order to enjoy matchmaking.

Unfortunately, you almost have to get a team together to enjoy Halo 4 matchmaking. Even as a CSR 50 , I still get paired up with noobs when I play alone. However, I’ve just learned to always have a team with me.

Spare a thought for them low ranked players, after the game they probably took the h4 disc out in disgust, and went to try cod or some other game.
Noob slaughter is no fun for most good players, even less so for the noobs. This sort of mismatching just drives potential new players away from the game.

Yeah, but you have to remember that the population is low. If the population was higher, you would see a difference. But, because the population is low, and the difference between how many noobs are playing and how many pros are playing is so great, that you most likely won’t be paired up with similar CSR ranks.

I think the notion of Join-In-Progress may have something to do with it. When you can quit and know you’ll be replaced, you don’t feel connected to the other players. I played Halo 3 yesterday and it came down to me and one other guy against a full team. Dude was my battlebro, we fought hard, we fought as long as we could and we still ended on a close game.

Well i play in a full party 98% of the time so i don’t really have to worry about team mates that much.

But when i get one they are really bad 90% of the time

How can people be bad at this game it’s so easy

I for one would rather have JiP than have people quit, which always happens, and be handicap till the next match.

Perhaps it could inform you what the match is and you could decide?

Simple answer, go play H3.

CSR is the biggest pile of crap ever. H4 MP is just outright terrible and the matchmaking even more dreadful. Heck, there are GUESTS in ‘ranked’ games.

The biggest problem is the population is so low, you’re always paired with noobs. cant even remember being dominated in h4, or even going negative in a game. Sure my team will lose because dreadfulplay3r(1) and evenwors3(2) are running around betraying each other. All part of the fun!

I can sometimes get paired with good or bad team mates. But, counting on them isn’t always the beat thing. But even sometimes playing with arranged people as opposed to random doesn’t yield the best results. I’m usually then one who dominates I guess, or close.

> Randoms aren’t very good at the game? Welcome to online gaming.

In halo 3 randoms are at least decent at the game in ranked playlists. I have a 46 going solo in team slayer, if I get matched with some 40’s or 41’s they have some level of skill and will contribute to the team. Often times a 50 will carry my team to victory.

To say randoms aren’t very good in any online games is a false generalization. Teammates don’t have to be terrible if the matchmaking system works.

Halo 3’s matchmaking system works with a lower population than H4, there’s no reason for H4’s matchmaking system to be this bad.

Precisely the reason I stopped playing Halo 4. Yeah, I post a lot about the game’s lack of “Halo”-ness, but what actually drove me to stop playing was the bad skill matching. Way too often, games go one of two ways:
[/li]- The CSR split is horribly balanced and one team gets mutilated.

  • Matchmaking puts 1-2 good players on a team with bad players against a team with mediocre players. The match comes down to the better players trying to win faster than their teammates can lose it for them.

Though a lot of things in Halo 4 inhibit teams from working together, the bad matchmaking system is the worst offender.

I’m sure this aggravates the issue, but it is not the cause of the issue. I’ve been having problems with this since before Castle was released in April.

Regardless, I would rather wait two minutes for a decent game than 30 seconds for a bad game.

I would rather that it worked based on seeking the best connection rather than rank-based while the population is so low, otherwise I’d only probably ever be versing 'Muricans and their superior connections, and I’d be rage quitting.

But it is basically just that there is such a low population that you can’t find anybody who is similar to you in rank.

Hmmm, perhaps we MIGHT not be having this problem if people JUST played Rumble Pit a little more, eh? The ONLY Free For All gametype where you don’t have the burden of team mates. I so wish I could play this, but no, the population is so pathetically small that I usually only end up playing with a foreign host, and people start doing the warp dance, or my bullets don’t register properly, or I get shot through walls.

Because Halo 3’s now small population is made up of hardcore fans, and you can bet that most of those hardcore fans are going to be decent players.

Casuals don’t play Halo 3, because it’s now an older Xbox 360 game.

Welcome to my Halo XBL experience that I’ve been experiencing for the past 7 years…

I’ve just about given up on team gametypes when I’m searching alone. Unless I’m in a party you can find me in FFA now.

> you’re always paired with noobs. cant even remember being dominated in h4, or even going negative in a game. Sure my team will lose because dreadfulplay3r(1) and evenwors3(2) are running around betraying each other. All part of the fun!

Thats exactly how I feel while searching alone.

I remember a game of settler where I was just using the Warthog by myself to splatter enemyes while my teammates where getting the flag.

I got a 2.0 K/D by only splatter this guys with the warthog 0.o
If they wouldnt had a PP and PN combo I maybe would had a perfection. I also had SWAT games goin +30 and still lost the game. It was a close game, but what if I would just have left the game? My teammates would have been absolutely destroyed by other terrible players.

Why do I always have to mess with guys like that? Even if I search in the pro playlist called Throwdown I have AFK guys and Gravity Hammer players in my team that are able to go -15 against other people like them -_-

Games are like

– Me
– Bad (1)
– Worst (2)
– Even more worse ynd terrible (3)

against

– Bad
– Bad
– Ok
– Bad

If you dont have a team dont expect to win in this game. Never had this problem in Halo 3. I reached Rank 40-48 in almost every ranked playlist by playing by myself a lot.
