Let's talk Beta > Finished product

So, with the announcement of a BETA for Halo 5, what’s your thoughts here?

Primarily i hope this beta, will be the stepping stone for the return of all the fans, that chose to leave Halo behind, due to the directions of the last two MP Halo games.

Now, we also get the chances to have our voices heard in due time for the release, so that we may help 343i build Halo 5 into a massively succesfull installment in the Halo franchise.

Now, i found myself overly exited for the chance, to hear the opinions of the rest of you, my fellow Halo fans-

How do you think the BETA will affect the future?

Knowing that there is a Beta, makes this a better opportunity for 343i to connect with community and get proper feedback with the fans. The Beta will play a major role in Halo 5: Guardians success or downfall. I am really excited and can’t wait, I want to get my hands on that Beta!

343 look like their trying to appeal to their hardcore fans - which is good, however I hope they’re not going to forget about us casual big team battle players and include all out warfare game types as I think there’s a lot of potential for it to be done well. I also hope for a good innovative firefight and open forge world with an expansive sandbox.

Edit.
Although I appreciate forge and firefight won’t be in the beta, I hope there will be some good 16v16 battles.

I hope 343I takes the feedback with a grain of salt. People not wanting to move on past 2007 now have every trilogy game handed to them in one giant package with dedicated server support and just overall improved quality in general. Let Halo 5 be Halo 5.

I hope the only feedback they consider is balancing feedback.

IGN interviewed them and asked that question and they basically said just that. The reason for it being that early is so they have enough time to make changes in movement, balances, and netcode. If they do get feedback from those games for Halo 5 it will be very small.

I’m quite sure 343i will keep the Wargames, many of us has come to love. Personally i would love the return of Big Team Infinity slayer.

Betas are almost always a good thing. We will be testing a lot I’m sure. They want the game to be shipped as perfect as possible.

Well the beta will be arena/competitive specific (although it will be a small taste of the overall multiplayer experience). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u15qpXrJhyQ skip to 16:10

good, halo 4 catered too much to the btb kids, and that turned out so well…

I’m glad there is a beta.

However it doesn’t mean that much, Reach had a beta and had, in my opinion, the worst multiplayer of any Halo game. Halo 4 didn’t have one and still turned out decent enough.

Still, it should hopefully help 343 craft an amazing multiplayer experience. One that moves forward while still remaining true to Halo’s roots.

There seems to be a growing trend of delaying games for the betterment of end-products.

This is good, Microsoft had really given other developers no choice but to further polish their own AAA titles.

Like it really should have been at least five years ago.

They know that fan feedback is of the utmost importance and that they can’t ignore that feedback. It is essential to the longevity of Halo 5: Guardians as a whole and they would do good to take it very seriously.

Overall, a Beta for the game, especially this early on, is a very amazing thing to do~

I think a beta means great things for the game, it also shows that 343i trusts the Halo Community as a whole and is willing to let them take part in helping create the game. I just hope I can get an XBOne in time for both Halo: The MC collection, and Halo 5: Guardians

A beta was a good play on their part and it seems there is plenty of time to make necessary changes. It comes out in December which gives them close to a year to work on issues.

Having a beta is always a good thing, it’s somewhat of a win-win situation for everyone. We get to play the game early and get a taste of what the game will look and what to expect while 343i will be able to polish the game up overtime to fix up anything that people find while playing and also they are able to get feedback on how to make the game better.

> good, halo 4 catered too much to the btb kids, and that turned out so well…

A tad harsh, what about us people who prefer btb matches to small games, i’m gonna be the only person I actually know with an xbone, all my friends jumped ship to ps4 really, so btb will be ideal for me as i’ll be searching for games alone, and that is not a sensible idea in 4v4s…

I’m really skeptical about the beta and its importance to the quality of the final game. The beta will probably be great for testing stuff that can be pulled straight out of the data, e.g. what gametypes and weapons are popular. But if there is something fundamentally flawed in the game, such as a feature like personal odrnance in Halo 4, I’m doubtful it would be removed from the final game based on forum feedback.

As of now, I’m treating the beta as fan service. They are giving it to us because we asked for it. Anything we say on the beta probably won’t affect the vision of the final game. The changes from the beta to those in the final game will probably be small ones like weapon ammo counts.

The beta will at best make the game marginally better than it would’ve been without a beta. At least that’s how it has been with every triple-A beta I’ve been a part of.

After hearing that there would be a public Beta for Halo 5: Guardians, I filled with joy.

Most, if not, all of the problems and troubles the any Halo game could face can now be easily overcome if we all work together on this. Tossing aside our bias and selfish wants; Only then will we all have achieved what we all wanted for a Halo game throughout the years. This was honestly the best news that I heard that day, and it still is. Competitive, Casual, and everywhere in-between, we can all shape and mold this into the game it should be.

Years of bickering and whining could all be put to end if we (along with 343i) do this right. This golden opportunity that had been given to us will either make it or break it. If, and only if we work together. Honestly.

If we’re going to want to make this game BIG then we’re going to have to work alongside 343i. I honestly believe that we can do this, and I’m hoping that we do.

I will personally make it my goal to only forward the game towards the success that everyone wants it to be. I just wish I could invest more into it.

Though you have to admit, the fact that they are having a beta almost a year in advance means that we could see major changes between the beta and the final product.

Considering how early the Beta is to the expected release date, surely 343i wants to do more with it. Usually Betas pop up around the end of the games development, mainly to stress the servers. Though my feelings with 343i had been harsh at times, I still think they intend to make our experiences with Halo last.
