First things first:
I don’t want you to touch the BR, its perfect as is. HOWEVER, the BR has no reticle bloom… But the Commando does.
What are you doing? Do weapons have bloom or not? You cant have it both ways. I’m starting to like the commando even with the problems it has, but it does NOT stand toe to toe with the BR. If the Commandos purpose is it be more effective up close than a BR, it cannot be weaker the the BR at close range.
I’ve gotten some good kills on BR’s up close but only due to luck, bad aim and the element of surprise. Any good BR user will STILL outshine the commando, and the BR has the range and scope to compete with snipers while the commando does nothing.
Let me say this again.
I DON’T WANT YOU TO TOUCH THE BR!
But with how almost every gun in the game has bloom and weapon spread, the BR is a very obvious outlier. As much as it pains me, nerf the BR.
Either the BR gets bloom and spread, or all guns have NO spread.
I don’t understand how you guys let this fly by. I’m open to suggestions but, this really is a BIG damn problem.

I don’t want any guns to have bloom and if the BR got bloom, Infinite’s comp scene would immediately die.

It’s a hit scan weapon. Not sure if they can adjust this via a patch. Either way I say leave it as is but nerf it’s cqb viability
No weapons in-game are actually hitscan. They’re all EXTREMELY fast projectile. Shoot the sidekick across map and see how long it takes to get a hit marker. Even the sniper can miss if they pass you fast enough.
Ideally, I’d want the commando to be buffed up to BR levels but it, apparently, just got a nerf so
.
Point is, all weapons have bloom and spread EXCEPT the BR.

I did read somewhere that the game was hybrid and used projectile and hit scan weapons. I maybe wrong. But after the backlash bungie got with bloom on all the primary weapons on reach and the cost of manpower they had to expend to fix that game. As well as the backlash 343 is getting right now with this game. I doubt will see the iconic/nostalgic BR getting a drastic change to bloom.
Nah you don’t have to nerf the BR imo. Commando was fine in the flights they just nerfed it for some reason. There’s a lot of weapons that need buffing, I’d rather they do that than nerf.

Just that one simple change of adding bloom the BR will ultimately damage the game’s competitive setting [skill gap] in ranked arena matches; some kills would just come down to pure luck rather than how accurate you are as a player. That is not something that many players would happen to appreciate at all in a small-scale competitive game like Halo.
I prefer all other weapons in the game to have their spread [bloom] greatly reduced overall.
Which is why I say they need to either nerf the BR with bloom or remove it from all weapons. The commando is basically a hybrid BR. So why does it have bloom, If I stagger my shots, there should be NO bloom, but that isn’t how it works currently. If the Pro scene is their focus, even the sidekick should have bloom removed. Any precision gun, AR INCLUDED cause it does have a Headshot multiplier, should be bloom free.
Don’t nerf anything. Buff the Commando a little bit.
Honestly bloom realistically doesn’t matter a whole lot for controller players, bullet magnetism in this game is whack for most weapons with bloom. Look at the Sidekick, you’re literally rewarded for spamming it.
The BR does have spread. The 3 bullets it fires slowly travel apart. As for bloom and nerfs? Nah, that’s crazy. Bloom in general is crazy. It’s like, hey, here’s recoil except you can’t control it lmao. Randomness in video games is bad. I’m honestly surprised to see it return after how hated it was in Reach.
The BR doesn’t have bloom, it just has spread.
Leave bloom on Commando, but I want it to be strong like the AK in counterstrike. AK was stronger, but had worse spread in CS, while the M4 had tighter spread and weaker.
Honestly I’m surprised bloom in general hasn’t been discussed waaaaay more. I remember the backlash from reach. I also feel like removing it could solve a lot of problems, such as:
-
AR burst fire has incredible range. If you remove bloom & give it a fixed cone of fire like Halo 1-3 it would be less accurate at range and thus less effective, preventing it from threatening BR / commando when it shouldn’t
-
Commando has bloom and recoil which is total overkill. Remove the bloom = instantly more viable, and essentially becomes a midway between the AR & BR quite comfortably in both range & ttk
-
Needler becomes kinda unreliable with tracking/ range after about half a clip has been fired due to heavy bloom. Just twitching this would make it more reliable and feel much better to use.
-
Sniper doesn’t need boom period.
So yeah, took me by surprise that there is so much in this game. Imo didn’t do reach any good and just isn’t needed in Infinite either.

One thing that would become insanely more powerful if you removed bloom entirely would be the sidekick

True which is why I didn’t mention it lol. I’m not a game designer I’m just giving suggestions, someone smarter than me could figure that out
Everyone here is missing the point, the BR is the only weapon with no Bloom or spread, its the reason you can fight a sniper while the commando can’t. Even on the map streets, shooting from one side to the other, I’d rather have the BR.
The fact everyone is unanimous in their love for the BR to stay as is just shows how OP it is. At no point would anyone want the Commando over the BR which means something needs to change.
I should fear the AR up close because that’s where it shines.
I should fear the BR at range cause that’s where it shines.
I should fear the Commando at mid range cause that’s where it SUPPOSED to shine and yet I fear the BR at ALL ranges.
This is just objectivly bad balance.

No the BR definitely has spread. It’s entirely possible to miss with a stray bullet and ruin your perfect 4 shot.
Possibly, but its very hard to notice then which still means the spread is not strong enough to dissuade you from using it where it’s meant to be used.
I like the idea to give the AR a fixed cone, serves the same purpose as bloom while making sure it isn’t used out of its intended range.
