Lets talk about the remaining Halo Online Maps for MCC

One of the Things I loved the most was halo 3 getting new multiplayer Maps but since season 8 there are still more maps unreleased and some would be fitting to other games then just halo 3 here are the remaining maps below

  • Sky Bridge (Sky Bridge never made it to public builds of Halo Online but photos of the map exist over on halopedia, The art Design would fit to Halo Reach perfectly and would be a great choice of game)

  • Reactor (A Great BTB map that would suit Halo 4 or Halo 2A)

  • Diomandback (A Remake of H3 Avalanche this would work for any but Halo 3

Do you think these maps will be added? Correct me if I’m wrong but is there anymore maps that could make a comeback?

I don’t know if there’s more from Halo 3 (original Halo 3, not Online), but there are some missing from original Halo Reach 4v4. Those nine maps need to make a comeback. There’s a few in there that were so much better than the ones that did get ported over. Regardless of that though, I feel for those who may never get to experience them. I will keep advocating for the complete Reach experience on MCC for as long as I can.

The reason Halo Online content goes to Halo 3 is because it was built off of a modified combination of ODST and Halo 3 Mythic, making the backport possible. Regardless of the reasons though, entries already exist for them in the Halo 3 mod tools, implying they’re already planned for Halo 3, which is honestly where they belong.

Its not a big deal though, if 343 is willing to collaborate with the community further through the work done by the digsite team and modders, than every title has unreleased maps originating from the games themselves that could very likely be added once workshop launches or they hit an acceptable level of quality.
for instance:

  • Halo 4 (and by extension Halo 2 Anniversary) already have somewhere around 7+ maps that were blocked out and almost ready to go

  • CE has a handful from Bungie and Gearbox that were shown off recently that may have been very close to releasing

  • Halo 2 Classic is known to have one unreleased DLC map they said “played well” alongside 5+ cut maps modders want to expand upon and clean up

  • Reach had a Lockout remake held back for issues that were rectified with the Thorage updates, and possibly more we’re not privy to

I would hope maps and possibly Cut H1 armors could come to console but who knows if 343 is willing I for one would love it, though I have mcc on pc i play on xbox mostly

You’re missing one. There’s also a map called Pumphaus, which is a remake of Powerhouse from Reach, and due to Halo Online being a derivative of Halo 3, would likely work nicely in Halo 3.

Do you have a link for this? I can’t find mention or screenshots of the map anywhere.

Unfortunately I do not have a link, but the name was datamined from ms30 back in the day, if memory serves me correctly.

The only thing I’ve seen any mention of in relation to what your describing was s3d_powerhouse, though I haven’t seen it called Pumphaus before.

However I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the intended final name, since Halo Online did tend to rename maps like Standoff to things like Closed Area, and it was rumored that the Cold Storage reskin and Waterfall were initially going to be named Abeyance and Whiteout. Even further down that rabbit hole, Halo 3 maps internal names generally never matched their final names anyways.

I do hope we get to see Diomandback and the other maps ported to MCC.

Yeah, That’s the one. The “Friendly Name” was Pumphaus.

Crossposting from another thread regarding non-implemented maps for MCC titles:

Halo 3 maps in the careerdb xml file:

  • 300: construct: map_id_halo3_construct
  • 350: salvation: map_id_halo3_epitaph

  • 302: dlc_new
  • 303: dlc_reuse
  • 420: landslide
  • 430: beachhead
  • 450: pump_haus

So no direct mention of Diamondback, Reactor, or Skybridge. But there is pump_haus and possibly the firefight map Beachhead from Reach, and who knows what “landslide” is supposed to be?

For what it’s worth, Reach has it’s own set of unreleased maps:

  • 1035: 50_panopticon: map_id_haloreach_boardwalk
  • 1080: 70_boneyard: map_id_haloreach_boneyard
  • 1020: 45_launch_station: map_id_haloreach_countdown

  • 2004: dlc_medium: map_id_haloreach_tempest
  • 1500: condemned: map_id_haloreach_condemned
  • 1510: trainingpreserve: map_id_haloreach_highlands
  • 10020: cex_beaver_creek: map_id_haloreach_battle_canyon
  • 10010: cex_damnation: map_id_haloreach_penance
  • 10030: cex_timberland: map_id_haloreach_ridgeline
  • 10070: cex_prisoner: map_id_haloreach_solitary
  • 10060: cex_hangemhigh: map_id_haloreach_high_noon
  • 10050: cex_headlong: map_id_haloreach_breakneck
  • 3006: forge_halo: map_id_haloreach_forge_world
  • 1060: stalagmite
  • 999: spartanland
  • 1046: powerhaus

It’s odd that 30_settlement / powerhouse and powerhaus are separate here. Don’t know what spartanland might be, but “stalagmite” sounds like a potential Waterworks remake.

That said, those are not the only potential maps in Reach:

  • 7060: ff50_park: map_id_haloreach_beachhead
  • 7110: ff45_corvette: map_id_haloreach_corvette
  • 7020: ff20_courtyard: map_id_haloreach_courtyard
  • 7130: ff60_icecave: map_id_haloreach_glacier
  • 7080: ff70_holdout: map_id_haloreach_holdout
  • 7030: ff60_airview: map_id_haloreach_outpost
  • 7000: ff10_prototype: map_id_haloreach_overlook
  • 7040: ff30_waterfront: map_id_haloreach_waterfront
  • 7500: defiant_dlc_unearthed: map_id_haloreach_unearthed
  • 10080: cex_ff_halo: map_id_haloreach_installation_04
  • 7010: ff10_3kiva
  • 7050: ff35_hill
  • 7070: ff60_ruins
  • 7090: ff10_incline
  • 7100: ff35_facility
  • 7120: ff52_crater

ff10_3kiva might be any of the settlement sites in Winter Contingency (or the first settlement site in Nightfall), ff52_crater could be Club Errera from New Alexandria, ff35_hill could be the last stand site in Lone Wolf as the relevant bsp in the level is called “set_hill”. As for the others… I don’t know, any ideas?

As for the maps in the official mod tools…

Halo 3, folder “multi”:

  • chasm (only bitmaps and shaders folders are present, no s3d label so it wasn’t an intended Online map, might be an unfinished map from the Bungie-era)
  • chill
  • construct
  • cyberdyne
  • deadlock
  • guardian
  • isolation
  • riverworld
  • s3d_avalanche (Diamondback)
  • s3d_edge
  • s3d_powerhouse
  • s3d_reactor
  • s3d_sky_bridgenew
  • s3d_turf
  • s3d_waterfall
  • salvation
  • shrine
  • snowbound
  • zanzibar

The various maps from the Heroic/Legendary/Mythic map packs (and Cold Storage) are in a separate folder (“dlc”) but there’s nothing new there.

(Meanwhile, there’s a s3d_tutorial folder in the folder for the campaign maps…)

As for Reach:

No new maps in the default “multi” folder, but there are some other interesting subfolders in there… like this “archive” subfolder:

  • blackout_nwo
  • bunkerworld_dlc
  • bunkerworld
  • cyberdyne
  • deadlock
  • farm
  • guardian
  • shrine
  • sidewinder
  • snowbound
  • spartanland

Don’t know what “farm” might have been, but Guardian, The Pit, Blackout, and Sandtrap in Reach (realized in a form other than an assortment of soulless Forerunner bricks; eg. in Forge) would have been nice. Sandtrap might even have been reformatted into a “desert Forge World”.

Also, in a subfolder designated as “classic”:

  • ascension
  • guardian
  • ivory_tower
  • lockout
  • sanctuary

See above, but with Sanctuary too? (As said before, in a format other than aforementioned generic Forerunner bricks…)

Subfolder designated “dlc”:

  • beachhead
  • dlc_invasion (Breakpoint)
  • dlc_medium (Tempest)
  • dlc_slayer (Anchor 9)

The actual “dlc” folder:

  • cex_beaver_creek
  • cex_damnation
  • cex_ff_halo
  • cex_hangemhigh
  • cex_headlong
  • cex_prisoner
  • cex_timberland
  • condemned
  • descent
  • ff_unearthed
  • midship
  • trainingpreserve

Does anyone know if it might be possible given the new steam workshop functionality for modders to port in say Reactor from H:O into H3 themselves? I would love for 343i to finish adding these maps but maybe a good workaround for the time being? If it’s even possible.

As far as I can tell, yes.

It sounds like its tedious as a lot of the maps need to be tweaked to work properly though.

Honestly worth the resources to bring those assets into the fold once and for all.

I posted this in the other topic Halo Online in MCC.

I made a list of all of the BTB maps in Halo MCC.

Halo Reach - 9 (6 in Team Heavies)
Halo CE - 6
Halo 2 - 10
Halo 3 - 8 (4 in Team Heavies)
Halo 4 - 14 (9 in Team Heavies)

This shows that there is definitely Halo 3’s rotation for 2-3 maps, even if they are just placed in the Team Heavies rotation, as that is the mode that could have fresh content. It’s strange that this hasn’t been considered already since halo 3 is the most played game out of the collection in terms of multiplayer.

I’m glad there are people still pushing for this… I hope it happens one day!

I would love to see Sky Bridge on MCC! such a unique looking map.

I feel the same regarding Reactor.

I love this breakdown, really puts things in perspective. I have a feeling that they will someday add these lost maps in. I just think Infinite has, and probably will for some time, consume a lot of 343i’s attention. On the other hand given the resources they have I think juggling two live games really isn’t too much to ask.

Diamondback for Reach. And move Edge to Reach.

Reactor and Skybridge for H3.
