Wow, that music is seriously good. Curtis Schweitzer did an incredible job—you can tell how well he understands what made the original O’Donnell-Salvatori score so special. I love the way the drums sound as Chief gets ready to jump from the Pelican, and how the strings in the main theme are reminiscent of the original Combat Evolved version. The way Luck plays at the end and transitions into the music from Halo 3’s epilogue genuinely tugged at my heartstrings. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for the actual soundtrack.
Love it. Schweitzer seems to want to respect what made the Halo music great music rather than put his own imprint on it, taking away from the greatness of the music. Takes a lot of humility and a special kind of composer to do that.
Crazy good CE and Halo 3 vibes. Good to see they’re finally getting away from that futuristic-ish sounding music.
I got some Halo 3 and Reach vibes from the music. Like, the shot when Chief is entering the cockpit? The music reminded me of Reach a bit. Was so great.

RIGHT?!?!? It was an interesting combo between Halo: CE and Halo 3 and it honestly gave my goosebumps. I’m really excited to see how the soundtrack pans out.
I love it. It respects what came before, while adding a touch of newness to it. It’s familiar to what people love, rather than being a drastic change.
I loved the music. Even though I am fan of all the games’ soundtracks, Halo 3’s has the most influence for me and hearing iconic tracks from that game but redone in a unique way was great. I loved the military sounding track that plays when the Pilot activates Chief’s armour. Reminds me of Crow’s Nest.
so glad it’s back! I did not like halo 4’s ost at all, halo 5 had a FEW good tracks, crypt, trials.
Awesome renditions of the original themes. It really hit the right notes, but for me Kazuma’s 117 will always be MC’s Theme. Hope we get more Gregorian chant this time, it was kind of lacking in H4 and H5, though both Neil and Kaz raised the bar in the music production department.
Loved the music so much, great job 343.
My only issue is that this guy is relatively an unknown. I would have loved if they’d hired Bear McCreary. I hope this doesn’t mean that there won’t be any new themes. One of my issues with Halo 3 is that it was 70% reused Halo CE and Halo 2 music. Reinventing the score isn’t completely bad, God of War 4 has some of the best game scores i’ve ever heard. Halo 4 just rubbed people the wrong way.

Bear is probably busy with God of War 5 my dude and 100 other projects after people heard GOW4’s score.
It’s a good start, but I hope they don’t just leave it at the classic sounds that people expect. I like traditional Halo theme as much as the next guy, but I think focusing too much on that and the “classic sound” misses the point. Because what I believe really made Marty’s compositions great and interesting was the variety of it. He didn’t shy away from trying something different and commiting to it. Above all else, I’d like to see similar boldness from the new composers.

That’s true, but Marty often took what worked with previous games and implemented it into the next. I’d love to see Curtis try new things with the music, just so long as he doesn’t deviate too far from the tracks that helped give the series its charm. A Walk in the Woods is my favorite recurring piece in the series, and it’s a good example of how Marty innovated without ditching the original sound. Each version sounds so different, but at the same time it’s got a melody that the player is familiar with and has come to enjoy (subjective) hearing in a Halo game.
But at the same time, I agree with you that Curtis should add his own personality to the game. I just hope he finds a way to strike a balance between that and the more “classic” music, which is something recent soundtracks have struggled to do.
Agreed, absolutely loved the OG musical style. I personally don’t care whose name appears next to “Composer:” in the game, as long as they are faithful to the original style and represent the original Marty themes alongside whatever new material they want to introduce.

Hitting the right balance will be important. Halo 2 for example kept the main songs from CE while introducing new stuff (the electric guitar sections! moody high charity music!) that paid off.
I compose music myself, and I can certainly say that this has a great blend of all things Halo, from 1 to 2 to 3 to even 4 and 5 with the subtle horns in the background. The rise in the vocals as chief jumps out of the pelican (Halo 2 esc.), to the Luck intro music (Halo 3), this is great.
I’ve always dreamed of composing Halo music, and these new guys are doing justice to the franchise.

Same. Obviously it’ll be nice to hear classic compositions and ‘remixes’ of them sprinkled throughout the game but I’d like that to be treated as the frosting or other toppings of a cake. The new music being the underlying base that all the old music makes more attractive even if that base cake is already really good on its own.
In both trailers, they’ve used to music to amplify the foreground, rather than just being lost in the background. It’s a good sign.
I hope it won’t just be classic tracks though.
