Let's talk about the Jetpack

We all know the Jetpack cause quite a bit of grief in Halo Reach. The main arguements were on the basis that the ability to instantly jump to the highground of a map was an inbalance in an arena shooter like Halo. It later came up that the problem was instead poorly designed maps in Reach, and many felt maps in Halo 4 would be designed with all AAs in mind to better adapt them.

Although these all seem relevent, I think a much bigger reason for the Jetpack hate is not people using it to gain highground as intended, but rather assaulting from the sky well above the maps highground and the player’s line of sight. In fact I had complaint with the Jetpack on many occasions when I would engage in a 1v1 fight with another player who would instictively ascended well above me.

The main problem with this wasnt the sudden increase in altitude, but the simple fact that even with the highest possible sensitivty selected, I could not keep my reticle on the players Head box durring thier rise. This senario would happen exactly the same everytime. THIS IS A PROBLEM !

This really is the only thing im worried about with Halo 4 so close to launch, I was wondering if their is anyone who could shed some light on if this exploit has been resolved in the final build of Halo 4.

Yes my friend I will shed what to you would seem like sun radiating down upon you.

The jetpack in Halo 4 has been nerfed from the very frustrating Reach version, the jetpack does not accelerate as quickly and therefor not only can the player using it but the player combating it keep the opposition (jet packed or not) in their line of site.

I know this from gamer interviews from players at PAX and from watching film on the matchmaking games that I’ve seen.
Hope I shed some light.

Thanks I would hate for an Armor ability to force away the community again.

You didn’t think to increase your sensitivity?

Also as a moderate jetpack user myself, your losing the ability to strafe, I almost never jetpack as high as I can as it makes you a gigantic, stationary at your apes, and loud target across the whole map.

I play on 10(Insane) The max sensitivity

And the player generally did die soon afterwards, but the fact is they should not have been able to kill me because they had an un balanced tool.

That’s why you play Slayer Pro.

> That’s why you play Slayer Pro.

That would be terrible if an Armor Ability forced me into one specific playlist.

It was an unbalanced tool because it was superior in that situation and able to kill you?

> It was an unbalanced tool because it was superior in that situation and able to kill you?

It was unbalanced because it was superior in several situations, on almost every map that arrived day 1. It just was not as hated as Armorlock, for quite an obvious reason. So all of the hate and complaints about Armorlock kind of masked the Jetpack.

I, for one, hated it much more than armour lock (which i also hated) lol

Meh. People will find a way to complain in any case

> I, for one, hated it much more than armour lock (which i also hated) lol

Was that really a lol-worthy statement?

Honestly, I’ve dealt with jet pack users before and killed them a plenty, so if you don’t like, you can play a gametype without it (like team snipers or slayer pro equivalent).

^ im with you, I could somewhat deal with armorlock. Jetpacks however were the main thing I despised -_-

Well aren’t you pleasant.

Anyway, I suppose there’s argument that in high-level play it could be abused. However, I’m glad they didn’t take it out entirely like some people here were begging/demanding/threatening/etc. They understand that all it needed was a little tweak here or there to work better.

I agree with you there

jet pack is the most over used aa in the game…
and it was overpowered more then packers like to think do to them flying to glitched areas.

Since when does your experience encompass the majorities? Sure, you’ll be able to kill someone who doesn’t know how to abuse the heck out of jetpack, but when you meet someone who does know how to, it completely breaks gameplay.

It was a worse AA than Armour Lock. Armour lock slows and breaks gameplay, Jetpack completely nukes it.

Ok really? Doing this just makes you look like a prepubescent 12 year old internet tough guy. he was just asking a simple question of why you added lol to a sentence that does not call for a lol. try to be a little more mature.

> Honestly, I’ve dealt with jet pack users before and killed them a plenty, so if you don’t like, you can play a gametype without it (like team snipers or slayer pro equivalent).

Im not talking about just anyone with jetpack. Im talking about a skilled player using jetpack to get an unfair advantage against another player.

An example of a game I was in after about 2 minute I learned from several dmr/v/dmr duels with this person that we were pretty much both able to kill each other with the proper amount of headshots each.

He soon started using Jetpack and instantly stated winning duels. Even If I got the first headshot, using the time I was unable to keep my reticle on the player he was able to get 2 more headshots. which you probably know is a huge advantage.
