With 343 Industries preparing to release the upcoming Halo Infinite on Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC, what will file size look like in the new Halo video game? Could it be around 40GB or 60GB? And, what are the chances of 343 Industries giving us an option to download the game especially in a similar way like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War where we can choose to download or don’t download the high resolution scale including giving us an option to download either the Halo Infinite campaign levels or the Halo Infinite Multiplayer levels? I am hoping that Halo Infinite will give us an option to reduce the file size on the Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC.

The multiplayer and campaign will be 2 different files. I honestly think it will be more than 60GB in total but it depends what platform I guess (Series X textures will take more space than base Xbox for example).
On Xbox Series X, it’s going to have hundreds if not thousands of 4K textures. Outside of that console there will still be plenty of HD things which will need to be included.
Further considering Halo 5 is close to 100GB on Xbox One, don’t expect any version of Infinite to be small at all.

I didn’t realise Halo 5 was so big! I have an enormous SSD hooked up so never had to look at the file sizes for games.

Oh god no not like cold war that installer was an absolute mess and it managed to break smart delivery to boot!
But in all seriousness the game will prob have 2 to 3 version for console. I thought they have stated you can download in sections just like the mcc and you can assume that to be the case. Its free to play mp so they won’t force you to install a campaign you don’t own to play. That said we don’t know what modes are present and its possible AI and other assets related to campaign will be required for some sort of PvEvP mode. I just hope the compression is decent and the file size is manageable.

Ya I actually giggled at the thought of that small a file. It be fantastic but considering guardians there’s no way haha.
Since the MP will feature huge variety not only of textures but also cosmetical stuff like coatings, skins, etc
you should expect that the MP alone will be at least around 80GB and growing, since 343i will continue
to add cosmetics over time.
I think it’s very possible multiplayer and campaign will be different apps like MW/Cold War and Warzone. They’re going to put so many patches to multiplayer over time that it will get up to 150-200 GB is my guess. Halo Infinite’s campaign will be 40-70 GB if I also had to guess that. Plus they will prob add tons of DLC to campaign over time and I bet it could get up to 100 GB. Hope everyone is investing on getting an external lol.

Yeah there’s no way it will be less than that. The multiplayer and campaign will also be 2 separate files. And I really hope it isn’t like the CoD installer. Just 1 clean, huge installation please.
If they properly compress their files then memory won’t be an issue. H5 was unreasonably huge in size when there were bigger games taking up less. I’d also find it counter productive to have it being so huge to then have people buying memory after getting the new Xbox and such.
They say Halo Infinite supports “Smart Delivery,” which should keep things more manageable for older consoles. Links:
Looking back at H5’s file size, I’m dreading what Halo Infinite will look like.
It will probably come in around 60 Gigs depending on console or PC and dont forget that smart delivery exists which should help keep the file size a bit more in check.
I have 222gb left on my Series S. MCC is the only game installed. Who bets I’ll be able to fit H5 and Infinite MP on without SSD?
It really sucks that games are becoming larger and larger, up to 150 or 200 gb now. If the campaign file size gets too big, maybe we should have the option to delete or offload completed missions to make room for new ones, or choose which open world areas to explore at once. Of course they could also go the Destiny 2 route of completely offloading Year 1 and 2 content altogether, but I can’t see Halo doing that if it wants a solid new player base.

It’s kind of weird to think that Halo 5 is roughly the same size as all the games in MCC combined.
Let’s be real about this. Games during the 360 era were around 8 GBs. Now they probably average to 40-60 GBs. Now do next gen with 4K resolution which is 4 times 1080p.
Initial installation is one thing but I’m more concerned about update sizes and not having to re-download massive chunks of the game every time they add content or make tweaks and fixes.
MCC is actually larger on file size than guardians is. It’s at 138 GB and counting i think
