Let's talk about Infection (Flood)

What do you guys want for Infection? I would like:

  • No more Lobster Claw, ability to give Flood weapons.- Sprint disabled for Flood, Flood have 50% higher base speed than humans, and is still faster than a sprinting Spartan.- Ground Pound has no AoE for Flood; they instead having a Dying Light-style ground-stab.- Flood can thruster twice in one go, but recharge is longer. - Flood voices are more deeper and throaty. Basically they sound like their voice box is torn up.- Sprint has a limit for spartans. - Spartan Charge causes a counter with Flood lunge; Human is more shocked from encounter. - Make the magnum useful again; make it a one-shot headshot on flood like Reach.- More weapon availability in Hivemind.I made this list based on Halo Reach’s Infection, which was my favorite. If anyone has any more ideas or has problems with what I listed, please feel free to state them down below!

  • I’d say just reskin weapons to have an “Infected” variant for use in customs, if the workload isn’t too much. I have no idea how big the sandbox is.
  • Pretty much the same as in 4/Reach. No need to change that.
  • No real opinion on this.
  • Or this.
  • This, I like. I was Yoinking! my pants on my first Flood match in 4. Don’t know why, it just got to me. Making them sound better would be great.
  • Hmm… Not sure about this. With SS lunge, double thrust and a higher base speed for the Flood, I think running away is inneffective enough as is.
  • Cool. And remember, Survivor thrust bulltrues!
  • No. God no. Felt so cheap getting one-shotted in Reach. Two headshots minimum. Although I guess it isn’t so bad now we have thrust and no zoom on the Magnum.
  • Hivemind was fun. Can picture it being pretty cool with a Hydra.

Double trouble.

just another flood design, likely ala h2/h3

But I liked the lobster claw lol

Hey. Sorry if this is off topic, but what was the appeal of Hivemind? I never enjoyed a match but I probably just didn’t get it. From my point of view, it was survivors with normal weapons and Flood without AAs, which were some of the best parts of the Flood gametype for me.

OT: I’ve mentioned else where that I’d like Flood weaponry in standard MM.

  • Flood Carrier Grenades that inflate like a balloon and spew their infection forms on any Spartan nearby.
  • A Flood Claw that resuscitate a victim’s corpse as a Combat Form that fights for you.The second is wholly redundant in standard infection, but I think the first could be useful. Zombies with nades? Possibilities?

Now the other idea I had was to have a gametype that utilizes weapon number 2 in a way akin to “Flood FFA.” Everyone has a Flood Claw and zero respawns. Eventually the guy with the most kills has a Flood army fighting for him. If a “Flood Controller” dies, his killer takes control of the dead player’s combat forms (as well as getting a new one of his own)

Heck we wouldn’t even need a new weapon to do something similar to that idea. Just have FFA Infection where if you die, you become an ally of whoever killed you. Idk though. I’m just spitting into the wind.

Yeah, I was never really crazy for Hivemind. Whoever got the SAW won the game. But I like your flood grenade idea. It’s like a portable flood sack that pops and releases flood spores like in the level Cortana from Halo 3. I don’t think it would kill anyone with a good amount of shields, but it could definitely cause a distraction and destroy group cohesion.
