TO LONG, DIDN’T READ VERSION: Please, no more remix maps, quality armor over quantity of armor, official maps that have variety, and playable elites, iconic halo music)
So, let me start of by saying I have high hopes for it, I’ve been playing Halo since I was very young, Halo CE was my first Halo game, and the main reason I bought the original xbox. The path Halo has been going has hurt it more than anything, but I feel that Halo 6 can finally be great.
Halo games aren’t what they used to be, and before someone jumps in saying “Get out of here Bungie fanboy!” Please, hear me out. People are literally shooting anyone down who disagrees with the direction 343 here on Halo Waypoint, what people don’t understand is that Halo is dying. Yes, it is.
Statistics:
Fun fact as said in the post “Roughly a year after release, Halo 3 had a 1.1 million peak population day. Reach had a 900,000 peak population day after the same amount of time. Halo 4 clocks in at 20,000 peak for it’s annual checkup.”
People may claim “Oh, well its competitors, they’re the reason Halo isn’t as successful.” If that is what you’re claiming, you’re only helping prove my point. Shouldn’t 343 try their best to beat competitors, shouldn’t they try something innovated, something that’ll catch attention? They also had the SAME competitors back then, Call Of Duty was a thing, Battlefield was a thing, etc. So stop blaming competitors.
What about Halo 5 showed innovation? Lack of almost every game mode at release? Nearly all the maps and free dlc maps being just pure reskins with a few changes? Remix’s need*** to go, they’re making multiplayer bland, and a dull experience.
Look at the past Halo games, they all have a large variety and maps, colors, and settings. Whilst nearly every map featured in Halo 5 (Excluding warzone) was an indoor facility, and all the future maps were just remix’s of them, some remix’s having almost NO difference, while some were decent.
What about the fact there wasn’t a SINGLE official BTB map, and that they gave us forged maps and counted them towards our “Free” DLC.
You know why other Halo’s succeeded? The developers were passionate, they made us beautiful maps, all unique, they were outdoors, and fun to explore, whilst in Halo 5, once you’ve seen half the maps the game has to offer, you’ve seen them all.
I will say this, Halo 5 did a GREAT job bringing back the original mechanics, I loved arena, I just thought the map design was poor.
Now, onto the armors…
Halo 5, is literally ten pounds of gravy on a teaspoon of potatoes. They have over 200 sets of armor/helmets, but the catch is nearly all of them look alike, the body armor is almost impossible to distinguish (There’s some that stand out, but most of it looks as if it is random shapes and cylinders) It’s overly complex, and just not pretty to look at. I feel that they should put more effort into making armor distinguishable, rather than trying to make as many as they can, quality, not quantity.
Another thing, playable elites. Now before you say it doesn’t fit in with lore ELITES TRAIN ALONGSIDE SPARTANS IN THE ANVIL PROGRAM*** There is literally no reason for Halo 6 to not take place in the Anvil program, a decent majority of players miss being an elite, the longest running thread on waypoint is PURELY dedicated towards bringing them back, and that behemoth of a thread needs to be acknowledged, and Halo 6 should return the feature. Another thing, yes, keep them out of competitive, make them warzone only, and social game types only.
I have high hopes for Halo 6, and I really hope they outdo themselves. I do seem some improvements in Halo 5, and I definitely prefer it over Halo 4. I’m SO glad they brought back some of the iconic music that Bungie’s Halo had, and hope to see more music like it. Halo 4’s OST was just too quiet, and not so memorable. The choirs, the guitars, everything in the older Halo’s was so iconic, it stood out so much, whilst Halo 4’s didn’t stand out, it wasn’t unique, and congrats on bringing back some of the iconic Halo sounding music. Good job on that Kazuma, I hope you bring back more iconic music for 6.
Also, I’m not trying to tell you liking Halo 4 is wrong, but clearly it wasn’t the right path to take Halo, and Halo 5 being a slight improvement, will need a lot more to regain the throne.
