I can’t really put a finger on it, but there’s just something wrong with grenades in this game. It isn’t that the explosive radius is too big like in Reach, its just… they’re too many of them. Not types, but the number of grenades being thrown. I cannot walk around a corner without seeing at least two grenade indicators pop up on my screen; it gets really annoying at times, what with being unable to see the enemy due to the explosions covering my screen.
There might be a couple reasons for this, and there may be not fix for this, although suggesting one would be greatly appreciated. For one, the variety of grenades that one can start with encourages their use. Furthermore, plasma grenades, which were previously placed on the map, making their use much more limited, can now be used as soon as you spawn. It is incredibly annoying to run into a game in which someone on the enemy team does nothing but get stuck and die, however, this is forgivable considering its not a very effective way to win. Another problem along these same lines is the option to spawn with 3 grenades, which encourages spamming. True, 343 tried to curb this by making it so you cannot pick up grenades from fallen bodies without a perk, but it still seems people throw grenades far too often.
Another issue may be with the Boltshot, which encourages grenade use. Let me elaborate: due to the Boltshot, many people feel uneasy walking around any corner where there may be an enemy, and rightly so. In retaliation, many people will throw grenades at anyone around a corner to prevent anyone using the Boltshot from killing them. While I have no sympathy for those who use the Boltshot, it is disheartening to walk into a room hoping for a BR fight and being met with two grenades already at my feet as I walk into the room.
The third and finally reason may just be mental; the new grenade indicator displays itself quite often, however, that does not simply mean that grenades are more common, just that you are aware of them more frequently. However, I still feel the grenades in this game could us some tweaking.

I haven’t had it as my Tool of Destruction yet, but I have gotten six kills with them in a game of KotH before.

I highly disagree; I owe most of my deaths to grenades and power weapons. I could argue that if grenades are no longer a part of combat, the same could be said of spawn weapons.
And I fail to see how a grenade that’s stuck to your face is easy to dodge.

The Pulse Grenade needs reworked, it has no use in multiplayer at all.

nah the pulse grenade is fine the way it is, its pretty powerful once you figure out how to use it

Try using them in KotH. Combined with Explosives, they’re pretty effective at clearing out a Hill. If it doesn’t kill everyone, it’ll at least damage them enough that someone can clean up the kill.

Grenades are basically not even part of this game due to the fact that the majority of players cannot pick them off corpses, the nade map spawns are few and far between with ridiculously long respawn times and gameplay in general is more long range then ever.
Honestly grenades are quite broken ATM. Starting with 2 is a huge thing. It encourages mindless grenade spam and easy kills. If you don’t dump grenades when dying or even to throw at a cluster of people you’re playing wrong ATM.
IMO grenade count need to be reduced to one starting and indicators need to be removed. The indicator range is wider than the grenade range too which is crap, so I see no need in even having one. I’d also call for removing the grenade pickup perk and giving it to everyone. Less grenades means if they are used they are gone but if you kill someone before they use them or even if they are picked up off the field they a still a reward for good play.
Grenade abuse is very obvious in games like koth and even big team. Everyone having 2 stickies on spawn means the can just run mindlessly at things like the tank and get rid of it in a few respawns. Thus making terrifying things like the tank or guasshog rather easy to take out in mere moments.
Pulse grenades are fine ATM, using them to prevent running or clear a corner makes them quite good but only starting with one means you have to use it efficiently and not randomly like the other two grenade types.
Changing this would also fix how strong pp is on vehicle maps ATM. People complaining about the boltshot clearly don’t know how to counter it where it’s predictable and deserve to die to it.
