I don’t miss it tbh, after playing mcc and specifically halo 2 again there’s way too many people that will betray you for power weapons, or just run you over with a vehicle for the hell of it.
I think it’s a beta thing thats why its off, to encourage newer players to die even less by friendly fire. You can already see lazy gameplay because it’s off, like when you see a team mate and enemy fighting, now you can just chunk your nades there regardless, cause only the enemy will die.
Friendly fire has always been in Halo. I’m guessing and hoping it will be back on when the game releases.

While I agree with your analysis of FF in gun battles, FF was completely off in H4 and this makes me uneasy about it possibly being completely turned off in H5 as well.
We should not hope or assume something is specifically designed for the beta because it’s a beta and not the full release. This is our time to speak and if we see it and dislike it we must bring it to the attention of 343 as something to be discussed.
Betraying for Power weapons and betraying for flag cap recognition are large issues in MCC and all past Halos. I think the HCS playlist for H5 should have Friendly fire on, but everything else should keep it off so we don’t encounter those issues I mentioned
From my expierence, nothing good really came out of having friendly fire in Halo. Sometimes it put you in a time out of sorts next time you spawned, because your teammate stepped on a grenade you threw, which occasionally provoked them into getting ‘revenge’. In other cases, a teammate would kill you if you had a power weapon they wanted, like the Sniper Rifle, then you would be more focused on killing eachother than the other team, and thats just unsporting. Finally, betrayals lead to players booting eachother out of the game, leaving that team with a disadvantage. But if Halo 5 has ranked and social playlists separated, then I’m fine with having FF in ranked playlists.

I am okay with this as I know FF can be a big annoyance in games with randos. But when i play with people I know on my team I never encounter this unless it was either a) accidental (99% of the time), or b) friendly trolling.
so yes, turned off in social playlists but on in competitive.
I really wish they could have “adaptive” friendly fire. If you fire items at teammates without anyone nearby, it won’t hurt them. When enemies are close by, friendly fire is enabled. Adds some tactics.
I think there should be no ff in halo. I grew up with all the halo games before this one disc came to be. People that get in a game and cant win or they get mad due to other gamers disagreeing with their lack of skill causes rage which in turn causes an unpleasant game for everyone in the game. If you want a hardcore mode then it should be separate. I wouldn’t dream of playing ranked if I knew some individual on my squad could just kill me and cause my stats to be crap. FF is just not cool. It could ruin the experience of halo for everyone. I am already experiencing less then tolerable halo from being booted on occasion because of misplaced grenades in battle. its not fun having my halo experience in the hands of some person that didnt create the game. I didnt pay for that. Thats what this will all come down to at the end of the day, playability. Thx everyone for reading. Plz dont hate on my opinion. Think hard 343.
