Let's Talk About Distribution for a Sec

I think that Halo 4 should be downloadable from the Xbox Live Marketplace, 3 days before release ( pre-purchase), and playable at 12:00 AM of release. Just like on Steam.

Not to mention it would show Microsoft that a downloadable game market over Xbox Live, is in fact, viable.
I know that the Xbox Live Marketplace is capable of doing this.

Discuss.

Would you buy the downloadable version?

Nah, because judging by their track record Microsoft would probably price it more expensive than everywhere else.

Besides, they’re far too backwards to keep up with Steam.

It would yield a higher profit per unit, they would price it at $60, they only overprice things if they can get away with it.

They wouldn’t get away with it here; we know what a new game costs.

I would love for a steam-like games marketplace on XBL. What I’d really like is a code that comes with my game’s hardcopy to download the game (Much like Deus Ex: HR). I much prefer having a digital copy, but I love getting special editions.

Sure. But as if that would stop them from trying. I mean come on, we’re talking about the big MS right here.

> Would you buy the downloadable version?

Nope. I’m all about having a hard copy. Whether it be books, music, movies, tv shows or games, a downloaded copy just isn’t the same.

They should do, but they won’t.

Downloadable games aren’t viable because it would be cheaper to fill my Xbox with solid gold than to get a bigger hard drive.
