Let's Take A Look At Map Size Distribution

Halo 4 Big Maps: Longbow, Exile, Meltdown, Ragnarok, Shatter, Wreckage, Harvest, Vortex. Now Adding Perdition, Daybreak and Outcast.

Halo 4 Medium Maps: Complex, Adrift, Landfall, Solace

Halo 4 Small Maps: Monolith, Skyline, Haven, Abandon

Self-Note: I like Big Team as much as the next Spartan, but in my opinion, 343i has made a mistake of putting small maps on the backburner. I look forward to Halo 5 where 343i can (hopefully) learn from their mistakes, I believe in you 343i staff.

Do you think there maybe more map packs after Castle?

Look at the most populated playlist. Thats the reason. While BtB is sometimes fun, I sure miss the arena still maps that were in Halo 1-3

The main problem with all these big maps is the lack of big team objective.

My favourite maps in H4 are Skyline and Abandon.

I wouldn’t call Solace and Adrift medium, they’re more like small to me and they work just fine for 4v4. Like wise Harvest and now Daybreak would be more of a mid-sized map and can be used for 4v4 vehicular fun. We haven’t seen Perdition yet

So I’d break them down like this:

Small

Haven
Abandon
Solace
Adrift
Monolith
Skyline

Mid

Complex
Harvest
Landfall
Daybreak

Large

Longbow
Exile (also used for 5v5)
Meltdown
Ragnorok (also used for 5v5)
Vortex
Shatter
Wreckage
Outcast

So there is some disparity but not as bad as you made it. Plus there are plenty of 4v4 forge maps.

@A Blues fan

I doubt it, idk if you played Gears of War 3, but they had a season pass and the DLC was released in a very similar manner as I am seeing with Halo 4. After the GoW3 Season Pass, GoW3 didn’t receive any more new content, I think it’s going to be the same for Halo 4. Only thing about Halo 4 is that there are Forge maps so hopefully good ones can be picked up into matchmaking. Once the next-gen xbox is revealed I expect a Halo 5 teaser (or maybe a Halo 2 Anniversary teaser) to be released. All in all, I’m saying no more DLC for Halo 4 (unless you count Spartan Ops)

This, aswell look at the play list breakdown. BTB is by far and away the most played play list day in and day out, and while the maps were developed prior to the games release they actually cater to what is being played.

Do you think that castle map pack are the last maps we are getting?

343i knows the community wants more small arena style maps, and I would bet money that in the next map pack after castle we will again see more small maps ala majestic.

The size of the forge maps might be a factor. The forge environments Halo 4 shipped with are too small to use in making a wide variety of Big Team maps, but they’re plenty big enough for the making of smaller 4v4 maps. The community will pump out more small maps. 343i are making sure the Big Team crowd doesn’t go wanting in the meantime.

You are neglecting forge maps like shutout, which add to the list of small maps.

I just don’t like big maps in Halo 4 because it’s mostly just cross-map sniping with the DMR and vehicle-play has been in my opinion, butchered. Vehicles are much weaker than in previous titles, and plasma pistols can easily disable them long enough for them to be boarded or hijacked. I also don’t think the Halo 4 maps support vehicles very well. Again, this is all just my opinion.

If 343 could try to fix this in an upcoming TU, I would be so happy and love pretty much all the maps in the game

Halo 4 is a good game, it’s mostly just the poor Matchmaking decisions they made that people disagree with. And Matchmaking is a big part of Halo.

Yes, but big maps can only be used for one playlist. Infinity Slayer currently has more maps than BTB.
